Commercial Description:
Workingman's Red is a beer dedicated to the workingmen and workingwomen who really sweat for a living. An exceptionally drinkable quality characterizes Workingman's Red, which has a deep mahogany color and a slight malty sweetness. This malty background and flavor is surprisingly smooth. It finishes with a toasty dryness and a bold, aromatic hop character that complements the sweetness nicely. The use of unmalted roasted barley reflects the Irish tradition of dodging British-imposed malt taxes, while adding depth and complexity to the ales character. Workingman's Red is flavorful enough to stand up to hearty foods like lamb stew and corned beef, but still quaffable enough to quench the mighty thirst of the workingman. Starts pouring March Grains: Great Western Pale Ale Malt; Great Western 120L Crystal; Flaked Barley; Briess Victory Malt; Hugh Baird Roast Material Hops: Chinook; Golding, Tettnanger Specifications: Original Gravity: 1.047; Terminal Gravity: 1.010; Alcohol by Weight: 4.77%

Tap... Poured amber-reddish with a tiny head. Warm malt on the nose. Very sweet and a lot of caramel malt. Not much hops. Slight biscuit flavors and a roasted finish.

Draught @ Oly club WA 08’. Light malt nose. Weak hops and finish. Eh...not much else to say about it. Malt and butterscotch.

amber, hop and malt nose. surprisingly hoppy with a malt palate that isn’t overpowering (i don’t like malty beers). the hops are more overpowering and that’s what i enjoy

Draught. Faint malt aroma. Poured a cloudy amber with a thin fast disappearing white head. Faint malt taste with a little biscuit. Flat finish, a little hop but not much. Not much going on here.

1/2/08 @ Old Saint Francis School in Bend, with Bikesandbeer and his Girlfriend Jesse. Lunch before driving to Sacramento via Mt. Shasta. 7th Brewery of the trip. Listed as special red, guessing its right with Jake65’s review. Pours golden orange with a bright white ring. Nos is sweet and malty. Taste is sweet and a big old eh.
