COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular.
Abv reduced from 4.6% to 4.3% in 2003.
Name changed from Country Best Bitter to Country Bitter in 2011.
At The Whole Hop Brewery we have over 180 years of traditional brewing experience. The recipe for Country’s distinct fruity taste is a testament to this when we carefully mix the Progress, Brambling Cross and English Fuggle hops. The addition of crystal malt to the pale ale malt creates a light colour and adds a nutty taste.

Best of the range that i tasted but i was expecting a lot better....advertised as a whole hop brewery but perhaps they should switch to pellets! Not a hell of a lot of flavour or aroma but it gets better as it warms i guess...little bit nutty, dry finish....pah

Cask at "Nag’s Head" (Covent Garden - London). Limpid amber color, rather elegant and fraught. Compact and adherent head of discreet resistance. Determined and delicate aroma, pleasant rumors of burned wood, slightly braced malt, resin and honey on the end.

Cask conditioned at Nag’s Head, London
Hazy deep blond color. Breadish aroma and flavor, quite simple and weak. Low bitterness. Forgettable.

Handpulled cask at the Camp, St. Albans. Amber with an off-white headd Toffee and grainy malt characters, followed by some citric tang bitterness in the finish, very well balanced and refreshing.

Cask at the nags head. Aroma is excellent fresh leafy hop, citrus and earthy green flavour. Taste has a good balancing pale malt sweetness, quite clean and refreshing.

Cask, 4.3%. Clear chestnut colour. Citric fruit flavour. God, this is horribly dull.

[Cask at the Old Beams, Milton Keynes] Oh dear, oh dear, this was dismal. My overall impression was weak and watery - a little earthy hops, but predominantly wet dishcloths and old socks. Like a cask bitter from a macro brewer who can’t really be bothered to put any effort into it. Very surprised at the relatively high rating on here, so perhaps it was just me?

Cask. Low off-white fluffy and quickly disappearing head. Clear cobber body. Fruity honey aroma. Sweet pear honey flavor with little hops bitterness, low carbonation and a long sweet aftertaste.

Cask. Clear golden with medium white creamy head. Sweet fruity with floral hops and caramel notes. Creamy mouthfeel and bitter end.
