Pours dark brown with a light brown, stubborn head. Smells of roasted malt, earthy, tobacco, spicy. Tastes of roasted malt, toffee, spide, pepper, some dark fruit with a dry, moderately hoppy finish. Enjoyable.

Pours a deep black with some crimson hues and a large tanned head. Aromas of paper, chalk, char, and roast. Definitely infected. Chocolate, char. Super carbonated, lots of tannins and char on the finish. Utterly terrible. I’ve had some excellent stuff from McNeils and some utter horrorshows, and it really seems to be a QC issue, as there’s usually some hints that the base beer would have been pretty good had not an infection or something ruined it.

A deep dark stout with a thick brown head. In aroma, a smooth chocolate with light floral hops and alcohol. In mouth, a nice and clean sweet chocolate, maraschino cherries, quite nice. On tap at Boston Beer Summit, Jan. 15 2011.

22. Thanks, Dany! Pours jet black with a modest burnt tan head that falls quickly away to a slim creamy rim. Not much lace. Big sweet chocolate, roast, and soy nose. Creamy medium body, a bit sticky. Roasty, chocolatey, salty, and a bit pruny on the mid-palate. Long roasty finish. Big malty beast, very tasty.

750ml bottle. Appearance is very dark, pitch black with a slight bubbly head. Aroma full of coffee bean and dark roasted malts. Flavor has hints of chocolate and hops on the back end. Somewhat sweet, but nothing too over the top.

Deep black, with a bit tan head, nice retention, thick, very viscous.. Loads of cream in the aroma, a little roasty, a bit nondescript for an imperial stout... Creamy flavor, not much roast or burnt flavors, milky, some subtle dark fruits, light choc flavors appear as it warms.. medium to medium full bodied, sweet finish... Milky/Lactic...

Draft at Isaac’s. Pours a black with mocha head. Aroma is dark malt and slight molasses. Smooth taste like St oatmeal stout with a thin finish. Alcohol well hidden but not as "big" as it could have been. Chcolatey, smooth, and slightly thin.

This beer had a very pleasant aroma of roasted malt, caramel, smoke, citrus hops, and lychee fruit. Appearance was pitch black with big tan head that had lasting power. Medium body with good carbonation and a good lingering taste also quite bitter. Tasted of licorice, citrus hops, anise, roasty malt, espresso, herbal and maybe a hint sour. Overall a excellent impy stout almost bordering on a Black IPA.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma of roasted malt, hops, pine, light molasses, slight caramel, slight resin, and slight chocolate. Poured pitch black in color with a huge, creamy, very dense, frothy, brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Opaque. Excellent lacing. Flavor is medium sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of roasted malt, chocolate, hops, pine, light tar, slight caramel, resin, and a hint of vanilla. Medium to full body. Slick, slightly oily, then dry texture. Average carbonation. Roasted malt, chocolate, hop, pine, resin, finish is dry. 10%ABV completely hidden throughout. Very nice Impy Stout.
