3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown coloured body with a touch of a ruby glow at the very bottom an d a nice, two centimetre tall oily topped brown head. Aroma of alcohol, pit fruits, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, figs, earth, vanilla, a touch of oak and a little scotch. Medium-bodied; Assertive roasted malt flavour up front with a lot of vanilla and oak right behind. Aftertaste shows tons of sweetness, some anise and licorice flavours, a earthy and deeply roasted finish and a good warmth from this, since the body isnít felt immediately. Overall, a nice relatively subdued imperial stout that is quite a bit thinner than beers usually in this style, but finishes well and refined and shows no harsh flavours at all - although, that might be partially due to the age (on purpose). I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 22-April-2012 for US$5.95 sampled at home in Washington on 16-November-2013, aged personally for a bit more than 18 months.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber on 8/17/13. Pours dark black with a finger of off white/tan head that lasts. Aroma is burnt sugar, dried fruit. Taste is very very sweet, sour, dried fruit with sugar, some molasses but mostly fruit. Quite tart. A little more carbonation than I would have expected from an imp stout. Tart after taste. Overall not what I expected at all. Very fruity, very not to style.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
8/06/2011: McNeillís Dark Angel Stout... Aroma: Molasses, a touch of meaty smoke; mineral-like. Appearance: Very dark brown color; thin beige crown. Flavor: Drinks like a Foreign Stout; thin molasses malt; quite minerally with some leafy hoppiness in the middle; moderately dry overall; some alcohol venting throughout the finish. Palate: Medium-bodied; smooth and silky; maybe a bit thin for style. Overall: Pretty decent, but maybe not quite what I was hoping for in a stout (at this point in time).
1 pint 6 fl. oz. bottle shared by jcwr. Thanks John! Rating #116 for this beer.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(bottle) Drank on a very warm summer evening. I felt the style was a perfect match for the season. Pours pretty black with a light tan head thatís pretty thin but looks alright in a Mason jar. Aroma sets the tone as itís a little bit off, and you can tell that this isnít going to be an exemplar of the style. Whatís here isnít terrible and it contains some charred roast, abundant booze, and light chocolate Jell-o pudding. Nothing else besides that really. The flavor is a surprising improvement over the aroma, with tastes of dates, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and walnut. Mouthfeel is a tad on the light side, but the carbonation is spot on and there is a bit of a booze burn on the finish. All in all, this is a decent imperial stout.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black with thin tan head. Raisins, leather, earthy hops, and woody aromas. Taste is on the sweeter side, for an imperial stout. Body is medium with a foamy feel. Not bad for the price, but definitely wasnít my favorite imperial stout.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is a chocolate, black licorice scent, slight alcohol in the nose. Flavor is a chocolate black licorice caramel and slight oatmeal flavor. Overall a pretty solid imperial stout. Great for the price.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
draught@Spuyten Duyvil Sep 2012. - Surprising recommendation from the barman and surprising as an ImpStout: one of those ImpStout/Black IPA crossovers, but a very enjoyable one with unnoticeable 10% ABV. Pitch black (although that might have been the until table we were sitting at and the 3 "Girls"-style hipsters blocking the light from our cheese platter), hop zestiness over malt creaminess. Reminiscent of Victory Storm King, but a bit more easygoing & drinkable.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Not at all what I was expecting. This was more like an IPA than a stout. Smelled extremely hoppy, and tasted as such. I would have expected this to be a much lighter beer. It was very hoppy and almost tasted like grapefruit with a very dark chocolate on the back of the palate. Long citrus and hop finish. Not bad by any means, but not at all what I expect from a stout
