COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Firehouse is an immensely drinkable amber that has served as McNeill’s flagship beer for fifteen years. A citrus nose blends with notes of caramel and raisins to make this stand out beer with a full red color.

Wood, nut, and citrus in the aroma. Flavor starts slightly sour and fruity. Finish is a little sweet and dry, with a little peppery spice. Not what I expected, but not bad.

The specimen I had was flat. Is it possible it was appropriate to the style: an authentic British bitter, no? Basically no head. The flavor was well-rounded, but the finish had that slick, buttery, sweet mouthfeel that seems to linger too long. Is is diacetyl? Overall, an OK beer, but nothing I am too thrilled about trying again.

On tap. Slightly coudy amber color with nice white head. Aroma of citrus (grapefruit?) with both hops and malt. Taste starts with a sweet malt and finishs citrusy with the hops. Pretty good stuff.

Bottled 22. I’ve had this for well over a year and a half if not longer in my cellar because I had it before but wanted to wait. I’m glad I did. Aroma was a bit metallic but still some hops. Poured a nice copper amber with a off white head. Flavor is just a nice balance of caramel malts and piney hops with a subtle peppery twist. Palate is nice, not too bubbly or flat seems almost just right. Overall I enjoyed this bottle.

I ordered this on tap and im not 100% convinced they didnt mess up and give me a magic hat #9. Tasted quite similar. Decently hopped with fairly strong fruit undertones, not bad, but I wasnt too impressed.

From 22oz. bottle. Pours a dull orange, with nice white head and great lacing. Nose has citrus and some malt. Flavor has a lemon bite upfront, moves into a decent malt body and a clean bitter finish. Not bad, but not real well put together.

Very cloudy! Orange amber color. Large bubble head initially, but there is a wonderful cascade of tiny effervescence that replaces it. Short lived, though. Light, spotty lace on the glass. Yeasty and chewy smell. Dry-ish malt aroma. Low hop nose. The flavor has a strong citrus bite to it. This reminds me of my best homebrews, although it is overly sour in the swallow. Light hop background. Very short aftertaste on the flavors except the tart bits. Good body with a subtle carbonation that prevents it from becoming too rich. Simply put, if you are curious about what a homebrew tastes like, this would be a good sample.

I love this brewery, and I also love this beer. It’s very well balanced, the aroma is hoppy, floral. The nice palate is outstading.

Bottle. Hazy amber pour with decent head. Citrus, fruit, caramel, toasty. Nice bitterness at the end. Medium body. Not bad.
