mar (522), Dallas, Texas, USA Jun 9, 2008 bottle from jjpm74. nice ruby pour with a thick head that dissipates pretty quickly. very sweet malt smell. the flavor is very tart and it lingers on quite a while. kind of like i was drinking strawberry jelly. RomanW70 (284), Providence, Rhode Island, USA May 27, 2008 Big thanks to Jay for sharing this. Pours medium brown with a medium tan head. Very malty arom wioth notes of butter, whisky, and nuts. Fairly smooth through the finish. This is a fairly feesh bottle, and has none of the sourness recent ratings have noted. This was a solid Old Ale. tjthresh (1257), LaPorte, Indiana and Belton, Missouri, USA May 11, 2008 22 ounce bottle from jjpm74. Pours slightly hazed, dark red, with a tightly bubbled dirty white head. The nose a bit like cookies, with a bit of sourness and oxidation. WOW!!! THIS IS SOUR! No, I"m not happy about it. It tastes like a kriek brewed with Marris Otter and some caramel malts. Not something I’m really enjoying drinking. Medium/light body. High, prickly carbonation. Dry, tart finish. Oh well. dmac (802), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Apr 8, 2008 22 oz bomber from BeerTruth, thanks Adam. Okay where to begin with this one? Yes it was infected, really infected at that. The infection was great on the aroma not so much on the flavor. My rating is for the beer I drank, regardless of style since I am not a beer judge. Poured a murk brown amber with a huge pillowy head, thank you infection. The aroma was sour fruit, mostly cherries, funkiness and some wet wood, thank you infection.(If you told me this was a sour ale or a lambic I would have not doubted it). Flavor starts off with a slight bit of sourness that quickly fades and turns into earthy dirt, band aid and medicine followed up by the slightest touch of metallicness, God Damn you infection. I know this is by no means what the brewer intended with this beer but it was still drinkable and enjoyable, well as long as you weren’t looking for it to be correct to style. Ty5592 (1002), Hatfield, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 7, 2008 Bottle. This should be called Old Infected. This was a very stunning beer to look at. Shimmery clear copper/gold color with medium fizzy head and lively carbonation. The look of this beer gave no indication what was to come. Sour funky aroma with sour funky taste. Some light sweet caramel notes tried to survive but they were no match for the infection.
