3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a light peach-copper color with little to no head. Aroma of somewhat muted floral hops. Flavor is some citrus and some bitter hops, but a bit overbalanced by a sweetish malt backbone and a rather bitter finish to the beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Winter Warmer: Poured a deep orangey color ale with a nice foamy head. Aroma consists of citrus hops with nice resin and piney notes also detectable. Taste is also a complex mix between some notes of citrus hops with some resin notes which is well balanced by a semi-sweet caramel malt backbone. Floral notes are very nice. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I really enjoyed this one.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Winter warmer 2012.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Winter Warmer Montreal 2012. Red with a fine white head. Complex and classy nose of grapefruit and fancy caramel. Bold mouthfeel, sensuous, clean citrussy bitterness backed by a solid malt base with toffee notes. Realy nice.

2.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Looks are deceiving in more ways than one. 22 ounce bottle into a 24 oz Sam Adams glass. This is a pretty looking ale, golden orange with a thick cream white head and fairly effervescent. From there the nose is doughy and syrupy, with some grassy, berry, peach and apricot. Also a rubbery tone faint but present. The flavor is very syrup laden, marmalade, rubbery note in nose runs across the mid palate. Some earthy herbal hop character begins to shine. Fruit in the finish is melon like with a decent bitterness, sweet sticky finish not unlike American imperial stouts. There is a puzzling lingering after taste, that is both sweet and slightly phenolic. This is not my idea of a good imperial ipa, very little nuance and very thick with hop aroma and flavor under played.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Wow, much larger head than I expected after the minimal pfffft that occurred once I opened hte bottle. 3 inch high head of fine bubbles that is nice and creamy on top. Nice hoppy aroma with lots of citrus and flowers, some tangerine, a bit of roasted malts and some green apples. Color is a dark copper brown. Wow, noticable alcohol presence and warming from the very first sip. Decent malt backbone which gives a bit of sweetness to offset the plentify hops bitterness. A very smooth bitterness, not harsh in the least bit that lingers long after the swallow. Some grapefruit pith and spruce play on the tongue that rounds out with some crusty toasted bread. This is a damn fine and well balanced IIPA.
