COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cold fermented and lagered. Only available in 330ml bottles.
"Porter style Ale. Chocolate and beer! Are we Mad? We’d rather say passionate. We marry the soothing flavour of this complex malt barley grist with a hint of dark chocolate. This is a beer for your more self-indulgent moments. Great for lazy afternoons or long evenings, it is best served chilled with your feet up, watching the sun go down. Like we say – chilled."
"A silky-smooth suppertime beer, created using dark malts and chocolate. Pronounced vanilla notes fuse the chocolate and malts together to give a rich, warming, flavour that also works well as a complement to fruity desserts, summer puddings and autumn berries."

Pit black with a creamy but fast vanishing brown head. Full of chocolate, bitter one, with a good malt backbone. Flavour is amazing, reminded me of youth easter’s mornings with mouth full of chocolate. Nice balancing thou chocolate is a bit, how to say, not overwhelming but present and noticeable. The body is thinner than one could expect, perhaps ’cause it is not a stout nor a porter as the appearance would suggest. Amazing lingering bitter end.

Beige weak head. Black colour. Aroma is malty with coffee and chocolate notes. Flavor is malty too with chocolate tones, ending in a moderately malty and slightly roasty finish. Medium bodied.

Pours a near pitch black with a tan head. Aroma features rich Belgian chocolate, spicy resiny hops and hints of berry fruit. On the palate there is mouth filling chocolate, sweet rich confected malt, and a touch of warming alcohol. Lovely beer!

On a recent trip to Welly I found a great little shop called Rumble’s they had a great range of import and domestic beers. I picked up a few bottles that Rumble himself suggested. This one was great smells of dark chocolate and roasted malts with a delicate creamy head. Tastes like milk chocolate with hints of roasted malt, a delicate bitterness ,and not overly sweet. Mouth feel is medium and silky with a pleasant lingering finish. Great beer! I hope I can find this beer in the North Island.

33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with a beautiful red glare. Diminishing tan head. Smooth chocolate and mild roasted malt aroma. Flavour is medium sweet with a distinct acidic chocolate note and following acidic touch. Chocolate lingering finish. Nice and smooth.

Puzzled as to why this is a Schwarzbier...Powerfull chocolate aroma. Contains both raw roasted chocolate and sweet milky chocolate. Also has notes of roasted grain, cocoa and vanilla. The sweet milky chocolate comes forth in the flavor aswell, along with a moderate roasted bitterness. Smooth palate and very very drinkable.

Tasted 24/04/2008. 330ml bottle from Rumble’s. Black beer with a tall tan foam that lingers and laces lightly. Sweet chocolate on the nose, very clean, with a whiff of cocoa. I’d been told there was no chocolate in this beer but I can’t believe that. More sweet milk chocolate in the mouth, a little raisin, with only a hint of bitterness. Little in the way of esters or noticeable alcohol. Silky smooth mouthfeel, medium-full body, gentle carbonation. Quite a nice recipe, executed perfectly. Certainly not seesionable, or an everyday beer, but a nice post-dinner drink.

330ml bottle (Vanha Posti, Tampere) Jet black, thin head. Sweet chocolate aroma, but a bit lacking in beer. Reflected in the taste - it has a few good highlights, burnt and dry dusty cocoa powder, but watery and with not enough beery body. Quite sophisticated, and hides the 6.5% perfectly. However, Anna wasn’t quite as positive about it.
