3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Small beige head over pitch black body. Deep chocolate malt aroma with a little yeast and earth. Taste is chocolate with a faintly dry burnt malt aftertaste. A bit too much chocolate for me, but not bad. 10 out of 10 for the bottle design. (0.33l bottle.)

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Almost black in colour with a rather large off-white head. Malty and sweet with notes of chocolate and hops. Not very well balanced and too high carbonated. Feels odd in the mouth.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap @ Greenwich Union Pub. Dark brown body with tawny tinges. Lovely Chocolate malt nose, hint of bitterness in the taste then the chocolate came through.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: APR 25, 2008 Half pint poured at the Taste of London festival, light cola-like colour with some carbonation and a tan head. A bitter chocolate aroma with some roasted coffee notes. A burnt flavour dominates with some chocolate (but not strong). Quite smooth in the mouth, despite the carbonation present.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
330ml bottle (a very sexy one). Pours dark brown, light brown, short-lived head. Sweet, cream, roasted nut, cocoa aroma. Thin body. Milky, chocolatey taste: not too overpowering, but nothing special. Dry, uneventful finish.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a really dark brown, nearly black, mid-brown head, faded quickly. Unusual aroma, not particularly chocolately, more like someone’s mixed stout with a sour milk, and this is what they’ve come up with. Just a hint of cocoa there, some liquorice. Carbonated in the mouth, bitter, then lots of dark chocolate, not overly sweet, drinkable. Touch of metallicness there too, light in the mouth. Another gimmicky flavour beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A very dark brown beer with a thick dark brown head. The aroma is sweet with nice notes of chocolate with lots of cocoa in it. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of good dark chocolate combined with drying notes of ground cocoa beans, and notes of hard roasted malt giving hints of coffee towards the end. The end is dry and bitter and the notes of chocolate lingers for a long time. If You like chocolate beers, this is right up there with the best.

Almost black with a firm brown head.
Chocolate dominates totally; maybe too much... Also some burnt toffe and marcipan are there be found.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle picked up from Bicester Tesco 24-04-06 Very dark with a creamy head. Much more chocolatey than many of it’s type but not unpleasant for it. I quite enjoyed this.
