COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cold fermented and lagered. Only available in 330ml bottles.
"Porter style Ale. Chocolate and beer! Are we Mad? We’d rather say passionate. We marry the soothing flavour of this complex malt barley grist with a hint of dark chocolate. This is a beer for your more self-indulgent moments. Great for lazy afternoons or long evenings, it is best served chilled with your feet up, watching the sun go down. Like we say – chilled."
"A silky-smooth suppertime beer, created using dark malts and chocolate. Pronounced vanilla notes fuse the chocolate and malts together to give a rich, warming, flavour that also works well as a complement to fruity desserts, summer puddings and autumn berries."

330ml bottle at Porterhouse Cork. Pours a beautiful dark brown, bordering on black with a thin but very long-lasting beige head. Aroma is a nice blend of oak, coffee and rich chocolate. Taste is a light burnt bitterness and a strong sugary sweetness. Comparable to a very sugary mocha. There are some redeeming qualities in the chocolate flavour, but it leans a bit more on the chocolate syrup side rather than chocolate malt. Thick and overcarbonated in the mouthfeel, leaves a syrupy chocolate aftertaste. Rests quite heavily on the stomach too, I found. Hugely disappointed with this one, I liked my previous Meantime (IPA) and I generally like chocolate stouts, but this just did not do it for me.

Bottle / Waitrose / Greenwich / £1.90. It makes a nice change to get a strong chocolate aroma of a chocolate stout/porter. It pours a very dark caramel with very little to no head. The taste is all lovely malt chocolate and dark chocolate. I don’t get any artificial flavour nor an alcohol hit for a 6.5% beer. Very nice to find a beer that claims to contain chocolate and be able to taste it. Cracking beer especially for less than 2 squids

Pours dark mahogany. Tawny head. Aromas of black chocolate, coffee, a hint of balsamic. Creamy, light, sheer bitter. Long finish. Aftertaste is, obviously, chocolate.

Bottle, 330ml. A black colour with a small brown head. Aroma of sweet chocolate and malt, very strong and rich. Flavour of sweet chocolate, a little malt. A slightly bitter cocoa finish. Very drinkable but starts to get sickly quite quickly.

Chocolate and caramel aroma. Dark brown with thick beige head. Sweet taste with chocolate prominent balanced by nice toasted malt bitterness. Palate thinner than I expected.

bottle at home. Pours marroon brown, not expected this colour for a porter. The nose holds the middle between cooked patatoes and milk chocolate; weird. Light, watery alike body with mild bitterness, taste is bland and only chocolate malts.

Bottle at home. Very dark brown with smal beige head. Toast, roasted grains, almonds, light cocoa. Some tart berries and light grass. Medium bodied with slight watery feel. Roasted bitter and slight tartness, sweetness is very light. Doesn’t feel like 6.5% at all.
