"Porter style Ale. Chocolate and beer! Are we Mad? We’d rather say passionate. We marry the soothing flavour of this complex malt barley grist with a hint of dark chocolate. This is a beer for your more self-indulgent moments. Great for lazy afternoons or long evenings, it is best served chilled with your feet up, watching the sun go down. Like we say – chilled."
"A silky-smooth suppertime beer, created using dark malts and chocolate. Pronounced vanilla notes fuse the chocolate and malts together to give a rich, warming, flavour that also works well as a complement to fruity desserts, summer puddings and autumn berries."

330ml bottle, served in snifter glass. Poured a very dark chestnut brown with a two finger tan head. Aromas of chocolate, vanilla, cherries, raisins. Taste: sweet dark chocolate (pudding), vanilla, raisins, walnuts, caramel, coffee, bread, dark fruits, licorice, lightly bittered. A light to medium body with a chocolaty light roasted and bittersweet finish. Pretty good, sweet brew.

Bottle sample at a tasting, thanks Tom. Amber brown with acreamy head. Aroma of caramel, soy, coffee. Sweet and artificial flavors of cocoa, toffee, caramel. Medium-bodied, sitcky texture.

At a tasting, thanks, small stable light beige head, clear deep brown color with red taints, a little odd looking, aroma of milk chocolate and caramel, flavor of milk chocolate that feels a bit artificial like Hershey, and also some caramel. Not too good, feels industrial.

Bottle at Artisan Tap, Bedford. Dark brown, translucent with a sizeable tight light tan head. Coffee and blackberry compete with a metallic tinge in the aroma. Taste is sweet, rich and chocolatey. Velvety chocolate hit in the finish, alongside a surprisingly bitter hop note. Palate is quite thin, a bit of a letdown. Verdict: Meantime are getting a lot of hate recently since the takeover, and their beers can be hit and miss. This is really nice although... maybe not quite as ’authentic’ as I’d like...

Bottle at home. Pours very dark brown/black with a small tan bubbly head that disappears quickly. Aroma is chocolate, slight ash, roast malts, slight soapyness. Taste is big chocolate, slight coffee, ash, earthy roasts, slight dryness. Bit on the thin and carbonated side.

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2016 330ml ; In a Tulip : This beer was better than I speculated it being ! as I chugged it fast I reflected within my mind that ’this shit had less generic chocolate nuance than I’d reckoned ’ . A nice bittersweet roast , dry chocolate emphasis .
