2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 abemorsten (1975) - Mosterøy, - SEP 13, 2012330 ml bottle from Vika vinmonopol, Oslo enjoyed at home. Pours a clear sparkling deep mahogany body with a small ight brown head. Chocolate, vanilla and wooden notes meet the nose. Overcarbonated and medium to full bodied, the mouth adds toasted notes and a papery bitterness that is unpleasant. Disappointing.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 suprchunk (1451) - Heinsberg, GERMANY - MAY 5, 2013
Labeled as "Chocolate Porter", don’t know where the disconnect is. Dark brown colored pour with ruby highlights. Sizable off-white head that doesn’t last. Little bit of lacing. Big coffee aroma with a hint of chocolate. Taste is huge chocolate with just a hint of roasted barley and coffee. Smooth and creamy. Very nice beer.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Goozey (3) - PoultonLancashire, - MAY 4, 2013 does not count
Dark, dusky porter ale with rich coffee and chocolate undertones. Distinctive taste that lays nicely on the pallet. Strength is above average but this doesn’t seem to come through when drinking. Nice now and then for a change!

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Creedence (161) - Cork, IRELAND - APR 22, 2013
330ml bottle at Porterhouse Cork. Pours a beautiful dark brown, bordering on black with a thin but very long-lasting beige head. Aroma is a nice blend of oak, coffee and rich chocolate. Taste is a light burnt bitterness and a strong sugary sweetness. Comparable to a very sugary mocha. There are some redeeming qualities in the chocolate flavour, but it leans a bit more on the chocolate syrup side rather than chocolate malt. Thick and overcarbonated in the mouthfeel, leaves a syrupy chocolate aftertaste. Rests quite heavily on the stomach too, I found. Hugely disappointed with this one, I liked my previous Meantime (IPA) and I generally like chocolate stouts, but this just did not do it for me.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jvhemert (252) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 11, 2013
AROMA: chocolate, mocca
APPEARANCE: black, clear, frothy, white foam,
TASTE: medium sweetness, lightly bitter,
PALATE: full body, slick feel, lively, long finish,
OVERALL: good body, but the chocolate/mocca overpowers everything and lingers too long.
