Our first formulation of this beer was the first UK brewed beer to carry the Fairtrade logo, and although we have reformulated it to create an even better blend better the malt and roast coffee flavours and can no longer get enough coffee in each bottle to qualify for Fairtrade status, we are still using the same Faitrade Araba Bourbon beans from Rwanda’s Abuhuzamugambi Co-operative. At the Meantime Brewing Co we love flavour, so it wasn’t exactly difficult for us to see how the scents and aromas of coffee and barley would create a perfect match like just like mint and lamb, toffee and banana, peaches and cream, peanut butter and jam. Serve lightly chilled with as many chocolate truffles as your conscience allows.

33cl bottle. Pours light cola brown with a thin creamy beige head. Aroma is light roasted malts, some coffee, some alcohol, light dark fruits. Taste is similar with a bit of sweetness before a good coffee kick and a light bitterness. Watery texture, medium body, medium carbonation. Mouthfeel a bit too thin for my taste but an overall good and well balanced beer.

330 ml bottle at home. Dark brown with beige head. Aroma is rich; dark chocolate, coffee, soft roasted notes, more dark chocolate and some earthy hops. Taste is light sour, low-medium sweet, dry chocolate notes, very pleasant coffee notes with earthy and grassy hop notes hiding in the background.

Black, medium beige head. Cold coffee aroma. More sweet than bitter, sort of cappucino taste. Finishes sweet, cofee-y. Okay, but not my cup of tea.

It was fantastic beer for me! Falled in love with first sip! Aroma didn’t promise something special, but first sip... mmm... So balanced- not dry, not too sweet. I love coffee!

Bottle 330ml. Pours a dark red-brown color and medium beige head (some lacing). Soft carbonation, light/medium body. Aroma of roasted malts and a little bit of coffee. As the name says - you can taste the roasted coffee. Pretty much what I expected. Smooth mouthfeel. Slight bitterness in the aftertaste. Overall: very nice, could have another one :)

Bottle from Beers of Europe [220115]
Very dark ruby, frothy beige head, some lacing
Aroma - Didn’t like this at all. Odd, awful earthy coffee. Some odd roasted nut in there.
Taste - Dark sweet malts, but that awful coffee roast just mucks it all up, some dark fruits, odd nutty roast, bit vegetal, no, this is yuck
Palate - Soft carb, medium thin body, fairly sweet. Finish a bit dry, getting a hint of espresso, but coffee is still poor
Overall - A few sips of this and it was thrown out. The coffee in here is absolutely terrible. In fact the beer is just awful. Worst coffee beer I’ve had. 90 on rateBeer here? ... more like 9 to my palate ... yuck

Enormous head - maybe a bit much. Flavor is strong coffee with hints of chocolate. Very smooth.
