COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Avaialable in 330ml bottles only. Cold fermented and lagered.
May be known as Coffee Porter.
Our first formulation of this beer was the first UK brewed beer to carry the Fairtrade logo, and although we have reformulated it to create an even better blend better the malt and roast coffee flavours and can no longer get enough coffee in each bottle to qualify for Fairtrade status, we are still using the same Faitrade Araba Bourbon beans from Rwanda’s Abuhuzamugambi Co-operative. At the Meantime Brewing Co we love flavour, so it wasn’t exactly difficult for us to see how the scents and aromas of coffee and barley would create a perfect match like just like mint and lamb, toffee and banana, peaches and cream, peanut butter and jam. Serve lightly chilled with as many chocolate truffles as your conscience allows.

Bottle - pours ruby red with a fizzy light brown head that doesn’t last very long and fades to a thin ring quite quickly. Aroma is kind of strange - a mix of watery coffee and roasted malt. Taste of grass, caramel, a little roasted malt and some chocolatey hints but with the rather unpleasant taste of watery coffee annoyingly present. Light body. high carbonation. It’s not great.

Malziger Beginn, süßliche Kaffeenoten. Etwas schokoladig, milder Hopfen, süffig. Zum Ende wieder stärker nach Kaffee. 7/9/10/9/9/9

330 ml bottle bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.

Clear Cola blackish brown colour; Razor-thin head and residual soapy off-white foam which fades in 5 seconds; Small sticky lacing and no carbonation; Quite fragrant aroma of roasted dark malt, with iced coffee, cream, sugar, light chocolate, caramel, light waffles and faint grass; Mid to light sweet taste of dark malt, with strong roasty and nuts, strong smoke, light caramel, light black coffee, very light molasses notes, biscuits, lemon, moderate bitter hops and sharp grass; Light body. Thin and slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is very roasty and nutty dark malt, light but quite slick. Despite the iced-cofee nose, taste is mostly nutty with potent smoked ham-like flavor (yum yum!). Caramel, chocolate and sweetness are very light, not too yeasty. Quite alright… Hoppiness is faint grass nose, lemon and smart grass in taste. Moderately strong bitterness for an abrupt, bitter and very roasty finish; Fairly dry after taste. Quite Smoky and very roasty to mouth.

Comments: Compare to its Chocolate Porter, this one’s coffee aroma and taste is rather tame, but the dark malt is strongly roasty and taste like smoked meat, very lively and quite tasty initially but couldn’t hide its overall lack of depth and tastes. Decent enough as a Porter, but it can do more than this.

Porter beer with intense and dark brown color. Intense coffee and chocolate aromas with some dry fruits. Watery sensation in mouth and a weak taste (more bitter than sweet). The end is a bit sweet and not very long.

Sample pour of medium darkness with khaki head. Nose is fresh cracked malt, roasted and mild coffee. Flavor is similar, mostly roasted coffee and malted. Plenty of malt... I dig it

2009, 11.2 oz. bottle, shared and poured to snifters, showing a darkest brown hue, with some ruby highlighting, and a light layer of off white/light tan foam that quickly reduced to a bubbly ring & light film, with light spots of lacing. The nose was roasted & sweet, with molasses & toffee notes. The body was a little less than medium, softly carbonated, with more coffee presence to the taste, low peppery bitterness, and some dryness to the finish. Tasty, and cellared well.

Bottle from Drink Baar, Tallinn. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is coffee, roasted malt, chocolate. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a dry earthy mineral bitter coffee palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

A brown body with a tan head. Nice retention and some lace. Aroma had a heavy roasted malt presence. Mild cocoa and some coffee. There was a slight astringent note to it. Flavor initially had a bitterness like stale coffee. It balanced out a bit with sweet chocolate malts. Slightly dry finish. Light mouth feel. Slightly disappointing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

11.2fl oz bottle. Pours a clear, deep, ruby/brown with an off white, film of a head. Aroma is deep with smooth notes of coffee, and dark chocolate. Taste is balanced. Mild coffee, dark chocolate, and roasted malts with a short, coffee bitter aftertaste. Medium body with a low-medium carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a slightly dry finish. Very drinkable. Overall a great coffee porter. The coffee is there but not overdone like a lot of others. Very drinkable.
