Avaialable in 330ml bottles only. Cold fermented and lagered.
May be known as Coffee Porter.
Our first formulation of this beer was the first UK brewed beer to carry the Fairtrade logo, and although we have reformulated it to create an even better blend better the malt and roast coffee flavours and can no longer get enough coffee in each bottle to qualify for Fairtrade status, we are still using the same Faitrade Araba Bourbon beans from Rwanda’s Abuhuzamugambi Co-operative. At the Meantime Brewing Co we love flavour, so it wasn’t exactly difficult for us to see how the scents and aromas of coffee and barley would create a perfect match like just like mint and lamb, toffee and banana, peaches and cream, peanut butter and jam. Serve lightly chilled with as many chocolate truffles as your conscience allows.

Bottle 370ml. Poured dark ruby with an averaged sized, dense, frothy, beige head which was mostly lasting. Aroma was dominated by instant coffee and coco powder with toasted malts, dusty carob chocolate, caramel, currents, earthy/woody notes and hints of nuts. Flavor was a light earthy hop bitterness with roasted malts, toast, coco powder, chocolate coated coffee beans, carob chocolate and a dry finish. Well hidden alcohol content. Medium bodied with medium carbonation, a dry toasty mouthfeel and a good length finish.

Pours very dark brown with not very creamy head. Aroma of coffee and black fruit. Medium body, low carbonation and bitter finish. Flavoured with coffee, balanced, ellegant but not very remarkable.

Purchased at New Vintage Wine shop in Eagle, Idaho. Don’t remember the price but think it was in the $4 range. Very cool (probably the coolest looking I’ve ever seen) tear drop shaped 11.2 oz bottle. Numbering on the bottle would lead me to believe "best by 1/25/9". Very much enjoyed from an oversized red wine glass while listening to "One Track Mind" from Rythmic Cartel. Dark brown with a just a touch of yeast haze.. half inch head quickly goes away and leaves minimal lacing. Smell is big time coffee .... this could very much be mistaken for a cool cup of java off of smell alone ... no hops just a lot of roastiness and coffee. Taste is like a lightly carbonated coffee drink (a little creamy too) ... I like it alot ...Odd but not offensive lingering finish of cappucino AND a little diacetyl ... Grows on you after a while. Again, no real hop flavor or bitterness to discern, but the bitterness of the coffee could be masking it.

Bottle - pours ruby red with a fizzy light brown head that doesn’t last very long and fades to a thin ring quite quickly. Aroma is kind of strange - a mix of watery coffee and roasted malt. Taste of grass, caramel, a little roasted malt and some chocolatey hints but with the rather unpleasant taste of watery coffee annoyingly present. Light body. high carbonation. It’s not great.

Malziger Beginn, süßliche Kaffeenoten. Etwas schokoladig, milder Hopfen, süffig. Zum Ende wieder stärker nach Kaffee. 7/9/10/9/9/9

330 ml bottle bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.

Clear Cola blackish brown colour; Razor-thin head and residual soapy off-white foam which fades in 5 seconds; Small sticky lacing and no carbonation; Quite fragrant aroma of roasted dark malt, with iced coffee, cream, sugar, light chocolate, caramel, light waffles and faint grass; Mid to light sweet taste of dark malt, with strong roasty and nuts, strong smoke, light caramel, light black coffee, very light molasses notes, biscuits, lemon, moderate bitter hops and sharp grass; Light body. Thin and slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is very roasty and nutty dark malt, light but quite slick. Despite the iced-cofee nose, taste is mostly nutty with potent smoked ham-like flavor (yum yum!). Caramel, chocolate and sweetness are very light, not too yeasty. Quite alright… Hoppiness is faint grass nose, lemon and smart grass in taste. Moderately strong bitterness for an abrupt, bitter and very roasty finish; Fairly dry after taste. Quite Smoky and very roasty to mouth.

Comments: Compare to its Chocolate Porter, this one’s coffee aroma and taste is rather tame, but the dark malt is strongly roasty and taste like smoked meat, very lively and quite tasty initially but couldn’t hide its overall lack of depth and tastes. Decent enough as a Porter, but it can do more than this.
