Commercial Description:
Avaialable in 330ml bottles only.
May be known as Coffee Porter.
Our first formulation of this beer was the first UK brewed beer to carry the Fairtrade logo, and although we have reformulated it to create an even better blend better the malt and roast coffee flavours and can no longer get enough coffee in each bottle to qualify for Fairtrade status, we are still using the same Faitrade Araba Bourbon beans from Rwanda’s Abuhuzamugambi Co-operative. At the Meantime Brewing Co we love flavour, so it wasn’t exactly difficult for us to see how the scents and aromas of coffee and barley would create a perfect match like just like mint and lamb, toffee and banana, peaches and cream, peanut butter and jam. Serve lightly chilled with as many chocolate truffles as your conscience allows.

Ruby tints and a dying tan head. Lush coffee cake snout awash with Bailey’s, cocoa powder, yeast extract, background spicy hops. Earthy and roasted with deep cocoa, coffee granule, bonfire smokiness. The occasional swill of brine. Lingering and charred. Nice.

Deep brown in colour with a long lasting creamy brown coloured head, excellent lacing. The aroma is of weak coffee, some cream, light roast, burnt, malty and sweet. The flavour is sweet with some noticable coffee roast, light smoke. Sweet and roasty mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes lingering, sweet with just a hint of black coffee bitterness.

The coffee is there but never in the forefront, quite nice all around.

355ml bottle obtained in a trade with Optigon, thanks Gary.

Unsurprisingly, the coffee flavours dominate this dark brown, almost black, beer. although typically of a porter there are also notes of chocolate and roast. This is one of the better porters I’ve had this year.

A true rich bold roasted coffee flavor throughout. A very nice night cap beer, super coffee like, so if you dont care for that nevermind with this. On the other hand, if you are a coffee fanatic, try this!

Bottle: The aroma has strong notes of burnt popcorn, roasted coffee, and faint chocolate. It pours a dark brown, but is more of a transparent garnet when held to the light. It has a large khaki head with great retention. The flavor starts with a nice dose of slightly sweet chocolate that turns to moderately roasted coffee finish. No notes of burnt popcorn in the flavor. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. I really like the flavor of the beer, but the burnt popcorn is an aroma killer.

0,33l bottle. Light brown head. Very dark brown colour, oblique. Pleasant sweet aroma with rich coffee and chocolate. Flavour of coffee is very strong. Feels like this is borderline coffee-beer. Chocolate also follows. Pretty well balanced, maybe a little too much coffee. If there’s a beer suited for a dessert, this must be the one.
