Commercial Description:
Avaialable in 330ml bottles only.
May be known as Coffee Porter.
Our first formulation of this beer was the first UK brewed beer to carry the Fairtrade logo, and although we have reformulated it to create an even better blend better the malt and roast coffee flavours and can no longer get enough coffee in each bottle to qualify for Fairtrade status, we are still using the same Faitrade Araba Bourbon beans from Rwanda’s Abuhuzamugambi Co-operative. At the Meantime Brewing Co we love flavour, so it wasn’t exactly difficult for us to see how the scents and aromas of coffee and barley would create a perfect match like just like mint and lamb, toffee and banana, peaches and cream, peanut butter and jam. Serve lightly chilled with as many chocolate truffles as your conscience allows.

Pours a very attractive dark brown with ruby highlights sporting a quick fading cream head. Nose displays tonnes of bittersweet roasted coffee beans and some dark chocolate with perhaps a hint of toffee. Palate is more of the same with rather dry earthy hop notes prevalent. Really full flavoured and satisfying! Usually i’m not a fan of brews that use real ingredients to portray a flavour that should already be present (feel kinda cheated) that said i thought this was spot on!

Pours a dark chestnut brown with crimson highlights when backlit. A foamy, bubble, cream colored head settles to a wispy film with a thin edge. Random micro-spots of lacing mark the glass. The aroma shows notes of bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee beans, earthy hops, and a surprising dose of raspberries. Flavors show more of the same, with dark chocolate covered berries meeting coffee roast and earthy bitterness. Medium-plus body and light to moderate carbonation. Drinks easy, but gets to be cloying over time. This is definitely an interesting brew, with the fruity, berry notes coming completely out of left field, yet somehow integrating nicely into the mix. A decent brew, for sure, but nothing to get overly excited about.

Bottle courtesy of Tony @ OTH. Pours a ruby / dark amber with a light nutty head. Aroma is a nice light coffee and possibly light dark fruits note. Taste is roasted coffee and mocha malts, sweet and very enjoyable, filled with savors.

Courtesy of Ibrew2or3. Thanks, Dave. The aroma is big with coffee, but holds some very faint whiskey notes along with the expected chocolate/cocoa and toasted malt notes. It smells quite nice. The body is a dark ruby brown and holds a diminishing tan head that leaves clingy lace. Acidic and bitter fore is naturally quite coffee flavored. Mild chocolate notes. Lots of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate notes with lighter burnt flavors toward the finish. Feels pretty thin on the swallow, but overall is about right for the style. Some very faint fruitiness in the aftertaste along with some cardboard and paper.
