Draft at the new barley corn which just opened in NYC. Deep black color. Very light body with a sweet malty tartness to it. Eh

Draft. Dark pour, it honeslty isn’t the worst, oxidized waxy cranberry nose, flavor is tart but chocolatey, not offensive to me but it looks like it gets some hate.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Serving: 750 ml. bottle. It pours a very dark brown with ruby highlights. Plenty of cranberry in the nose with a very light roasted malt note. There is plenty of tart cranberry on the tongue. Rather thin and flimsy body with very little roasted malt and a hint of nuttiness. There is very little to the stout side of this brew. I was expecting a little more from this.

Julie says that the cranberry makes it overwhelming taste like a lambic. It's watery for a stout. Julie gives a 1.8

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml bottle into pint glass; bottled on 9/6/2013, 6% ABV listed. Pours crystal clear very dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, toast, cranberry, brown bread, light roast, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, and toast/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, cranberry, and fruity/earthy yeast ester notes; with decent strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, cranberry, toast, brown bread, light roast, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, and toast/yeast earthiness. Light fruity tartness/earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, cranberry, toast, brown bread, light roast, raisin, plum, fig, herbal, and toast/yeast earthiness on the finish fora short bit. Nice complexity and balance of dark/bready malt, cranberry, and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; with solid robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly creamy/acidic mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very solid fruited stout. Good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, cranberry, and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. I was expecting much more robustness from malt flavors for a 6% stout; but it was an enjoyable offering.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle split with DiarmaidBHK - pours pitch with a white head. I’m getting plenty of the tart cranberries, but it’s completely overwhelming the stout. Drinkable, but unbalanced.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from Four Seasons wine and liquor. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Doesn’t leave a lot of lacing. A bit of roasted malt on the nose. Not much on the tongue except some cranberry tartness. Finishes clean. Kind of boring especially considering the brewer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma: More berry than I’ve ever smelled in a stout; almost reminds me of "foreign" stouts with high berry esters. The tartness from the cranberry is very apparent; chocolate/roast and other stout characteristics are muted, but present. Appearance: Pitch black with a skin of bone, patchy head. Flavor: Very tart cranberry with a chocolate/light roast background; a "wild" stout if you will. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, flat carbonation, long finish. Overall: As others have noted, I would’ve liked a little more malt background, but this was enjoyable nonetheless. Maybe the ultimate warm-weather stout.
