Meantime Hospital Porter (called Naval College Old Porter in the US) is made in the same fashion. 24 months oak aging in used Bruichladdich Octomore barrels has lent a woody, intensely peaty smokiness to our ‘stock’ Porter, which we have blended with a younger beer. This latter adds vitality to the brew. Hospital Porter one beer that is best not over-chilled, and, like the original Porters, will mature with age. This beer has only been available on draught at the Old Brewery at the Old Royal Naval Hospital—until now. We have done our best to ensure that the beer would be recognizable to

Very nice. Solid Porter style, with a great balancing hoppiness. Not too heavy. Very nice.

Pours a viscous dark brown/black with an enormous tan head. Aromas of some dark fruit, some roast, slight hazelnut, oak. Taste is similar - stone fruits, peaty smokiness, wood. Slightly roasty but more mellow that an impy stout. Alcohol is completely hidden. Jesus, this beer is truly a world class Baltic porter. Very nicely done.

(Meantime Navel Collage Old Porter) Aroma of roasted malts, sweet meats, and a hint of smoke. Pours a deep blackish brown with no head or lacing. The taste is roasty with a strong peat smoke finish and aftertaste. Medium-full mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Overall, a very smokey scotch-like porter.

One of the best porters I’ve had in a while. Pours black with a creamy tan head. the aroma has some chocolate and coffee as does the flavor. Very well balanced with a velvety texture.

Very dark brown with a beige head. Smells like chocolate, scotch, and toffee. Peat is very apparent along with dark, roasted cocoa and vanilla. Finishes dry, complementing the roasted flavors and peat. The peat from the Bruichladdich barrels is almost overpowering on the first couple sips, but as your palate adjusts you notice how well it melds with the rest of the beer. Cellerable.

Nearly black in color with an off-white head. Notes of dark fruit, coffee, roasted malt, licorice, and molasses. A moderate sweetness, some light smoke, and a bit of chocolate. The flavor is a little bland, but still good. Chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruit, and coffee are the main flavors. More subtle molasses and licorice notes. Very faint smoke in the background.
