ryan (1774), Beltsville, Maryland, USA Apr 5, 2008 Courtesy of wickedpete. Cloudy pale body with a medium sized white head. Fresh citrus/floral nose with cotton candy and honey dough malts. Light to moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness with tangerine, floral hops, honey and doughy yeast. Medium body is round with moderate carbonation. mj (4971), Colorado, USA Apr 5, 2008 750ml shared by wickedpete. Cloudy soft orange colored body. Mild cheese and perfume hop nose, with some soft pillowy yeast. Sharp flavor, sharp and a bit astringent leafy celery hops and all... not terrible, but I thinik there’s some soft of sharpness and abrasiveness that’s a bit difficult to get into. kmweaver (2396), Sebastopol, California, USA Apr 5, 2008 750mL bottle, courtesy of wickedpete. Thanks, Pete! Pours a murky, darkened yellow color; thin off-white head with decent lacing. Solid amounts of citrus and earthy hops in the aroma; a bit too overripe and astringent for my tastes. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: rough citrus and resiny earthy hops; lots of crystal malts and sugar under everything; kind of fishy in the aroma and the mouthfeel, actually; kind of an odd hop character: British, but not overly biscuity. Medium finish, showing breadiness and toast and earthy hops. Skinnyviking (4142), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 1, 2008 Bottle. High fluffy and lasting off-white head. Slightly hazy dark yellow to orange body wity yeast sediments. Lemon oranges aroma with a spicy note. Refreshing and hoppy fruity and nutty flavor with low carbonation and a long bitter aftertaste. BMan1113VR (2755), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Mar 30, 2008 Pours with a large frothy white head that covers an opaque orange body. Tons of sediment floating around a nice sweet, citrus, caramel, hop aroma. Good retention on the head. Tastes is sour with some barely and a bitter, bitter aftertaste. You can feel some of the particles on your tongue as it goes down. Mouhtfeel is a bit too fizzy. An odd IPA. ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Mar 29, 2008 Thanks to BMan1113VR for bringing this over. Very different. Pours an almost ugly orange cornbread esque color with lots of haze and a small sized off white head. Nose is citrus and caramel, maybe some grapefruit. Tons of European hops, clearly, nothing like these big American high Alpha hopped IPAS. Something different and almost a breath of fresh air. Taste is hoppy bitter and acidic. Also somewhat malty. Not my favorite but very interesting nonetheless. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Mar 28, 2008 Golden-beige colour. Thick head can’t quite get rocky but it’s close. Richly hopped - herbaceous, dusty, almost saison-like. Bitter - shitloads of low-alpha hops, with a yeasty, minerally character again akin to a saison. Dry, slightly herbal finish with lingering hops. An esoteric take on the style, undoubtedly faithful to at least one era of IPA’s history. I love the rusticity. Golden orange, brief small head. Initially winey, then strongly woody and then nutty aroma. Massive zingy bitter hoppy mouthfeel, and that is accompanied by a hugely soapy hoppy taste. Some pretty OK malt too. To be honest, this is undeniably over-hopped, but I get an unexpected enjoyment from this beer. It has to be the walnut nuttiness that wins me over. One of Meantime’s better brews, but still caricatured. All Anna has said so far is "beer, yum!". Hmm, my tongue’s numb...
