Citrusy taste - approaching a sour arena, and in a very unattractive way. A piss like sour/grass hint on top of a cheap, gimic like IPA imposter. Not all that good. But worth a try. craftbeerdesign (746), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA

I read in DRAFT magazine that this was one of the top 25 beers of 2007. I highly disagree. This beer is quite average (good, but average).... nothing spectacular about it. I guess I’m just used to the wonderful hoppy IPAs from the US. There is little aroma with a bit of citrus coming through. Pours a deep murky golden with a thick white foamy head. There is quite a bit of sediment/yeast floating throughout the beer.... not the most attractive pour. It has a very citrusy taste with a medium body with average carbonation. Overall, it has a very nice and pleasant taste, but a bit weak on the hops. It is bitter but not nearly as much as I’d like in an IPA. Quite spicy on the tip and sides of the tongue with a bitterness on the back. Would not buy again, but glad I tried it. hopslovin (180), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 7, 2007 Golden pour with white foamy head. Smells like 7-UP with a little spice. Flavors of grass, lemon, and pungent spices. Slight bitterness. Very different. My favorite beer is an IPA and this one was not very enjoyable. JDUB (170), Beautiful Venice Beach, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 25, 2007 pours a brown orange combo hue (unattractive color - like a flu infected poop), very murky, wouldn’t want to fall in these waters. Nose is less hop infused than west coast IPAs. There’s more earth and grains in this brew than a typical IPA. Citrus fruity flavor with yeasty finish. The advertising is accurate; the isn’t a typical American IPA. Nonetheless, in the Meantime (sorry, couldn’t resist) I’ll stick to something better, perhaps a well hopped West Coast IPA. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 19, 2007 From a 750-ml bottle--Poured a ambiant orange-golden body. Bottle conditioned with a big two or three-finger fluffy white head. Nose of bready malts and gleefully floral grapefruit and lemon hops. Great multifarious English mouth feel with crisp spicy complexities. Finished balanced and quite desirable. Go for this one! jhumphries69 (722), Tyrone, Georgia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 17, 2007 750ml caged & corked bottle. Poured a cloudy, deep orangey-gold with a huge, pillowy off-white head. As the head fades it disappears revealing layers of mountainous foam surrounded by bigger, soapy-looking bubbles. The aroma is green with hops - sticky and grassy from fresh, herbal hop leaves. There is also a note of yeast in the aroma. The flavor starts quite nice. The very beginning is bready with a touch of yeast and considerable zing on the tip of the tongue from the carbonation. Once the carbonation’s zip fades, there is a pleasant blend of fresh, earthy hops and sweet malts with a touch of honey and caramel. The middle of the tongue picks up a strong, earthy bitterness that persists into the finish. The finish is somewhat dry with some yeast, lots of sweet malts, and that earthy bitterness. The aftertaste is lightly hoppy. The mouthfeel is quite appropriate - despite being very well-carbonated, it does not feel too bubbly. The beer’s body is medium-full and rich, but suitably lightened by the bubbles. Overall, a very nice IPA - and very English. The only thing that I thought was strange was how incredibly grassy the aroma is - they must have used boatloads of Goldings dry-hops... After a whole pint, more fruit and hop flavors come through and the finish begins to distinguish itself as totally excellent. The grassy aroma and level of carbonation make the beer somewhat reminiscent of a Belgian Saison - like a Saison and IPA blended... Very good. sayravai (3729), Helsinki, Finland
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 16, 2007 (Bottled, 0.75l) Opaque orange-yellow with a small but firm and lasting, lacy head. Fruity and aromatic-hoppy, lemony-pine-orangey aroma with figs, vanilla and toffeeish maltiness. Quite original aroma, actually, and brings into mind the MufloNZPA. Orange-vanilla flavor with figs, oaky notes, lemony hops, and a dry, vanilla-oaky finish. Some saisony passion fruit notes, and a touch of Dulle Teve. The flavor also brings a memory of Innis & Gunn Oak Aged Beer. Very interesting. Medium-bodied, medium-carbonated, quite refreshing palate. Maybe slightly harsh and thin, but nevertheless a pretty complex and interesting IPA. Yeast flattens the flavor quite a bit, so you’d better leave it in the bottle until the very end.
