mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Mar 30, 2007 Bottle from BevMo, La Mesa. Pours a medium/dark amber color. Dry spicy hop aromas. Some fruitiness and pepper. Strong English hop bitterness with a sweet backbone. Fairly heavy bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden. Reminds me of a super hoppy bitter. Sickboy282 (1098), San Diego, California, USA Mar 9, 2007 Pours a cloudy golden /amber hue with a fast fading white head. Aromas of caramel, mild pine, and grass. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with some unique characteristics for the flavors. Flavors ranging from grassy goodness, to a nice light bitterness and even a hint of sourness. Oats and caramel are present throughout. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Mar 7, 2007 Bottle. Amber beer with a nce off-white head. Big grassy, spicy, earthy hop aroma and flavor. Nice if you like tons of English hops, though not overly bitter. Slightly lighter carbonation (like normal for Meantime, no pop when pulling out the cork). LIngering English hops. Good, but too English in nature and I’ve been craving pine and grapefruit hops. Slightly astringent. TheRimmer (483), Florida, USA Mar 4, 2007 Malt nose. There is a lack of heavy ho presence. Malt/hop balance is nice. Vinous qualities in the palate, taste. finishes with some hops. As it warms, the wine characteristics come out and the cereal flavors present themselves. Different for style which is refreshing. slimchill (773), Austin, Texas, USA Mar 3, 2007 Bottle. Nose is sweet, fruity, and surprisingly lacking in hops. Pours dark amberish gold, and very cloudy. Taste is very grapy, with almost none of the characteristics of an IPA. Some of the finish is hoppy, but it focuses more on the sweet malt/hop balance, which works very well. Very smooth palate; almost none of the hoppy sharp or bitterness of the style. A very intersting IPA, and as much as I hate to focus on the style, it really makes an impact as an IPA moreso than as anything else. Damned interesting and good. It continually gets better as it sits, or at least as I ponder it more. The sweetness, which folds slowly into a bitter hop fry finish, succeeds in creating a delicious (nearly sessionable) beer. Decanthas (18), Georgia, USA Feb 26, 2007 Cool, springwater aroma w/ hop character still present; Great balance, bittering, flavoring, aroma, body and feel. This is a great, well-rounded beer. "Session beer" Gr0ve (1382), Oslo, Norway Feb 24, 2007 750 ml bottle. Illuminated light reddish amber colour. A slight haze. Tall creamy head that clings to the glass. Beautiful to look at. Intense lemon aroma with some distant apricots. Soft texture and smooth flavours. Gentle, but rich malts and lots of hops. The hops are clearly there but surprisingly mellow at the front. More bitter towards the end. The aftertaste leaves a somewhat grassy and dry sensation. Nice balanced IPA. glennmastrange (809), hobe sound, Florida, USA Feb 22, 2007 Bottle. This beer poured to a creamy head which lasted only a short while. The color was a hazy amber with tiny particles. Aroma was of grass and lemon and a bit of grape and apple. Taste was fairly bitter right off, and in the long finish. Texture was mostly watery and fizzy and ended up chalky and astringent. Not great, but not horrible either.
