Light aroma of candyish malt - little if any hops. Mouthfeel medium-full, lightly pebbly but fairly smooth. Lots of foamy, patchy lacing. Flavor is just about the sweetest, malt-forward IPA I can remember. Sugary caramel and rock candy to the point it almost seems granular. As it warms finally some hops sneak through toward the finish, perhaps lightly fruity and providing a light bitter pinch. Tasty and enjoyable but strange for an IPA. Poured a hazy golden copper with a medium small head. The ale had good flavor but finished with a biting carbonation that just didn’t seem right somehow. In the Meantime I’ll be drinking something else. bierkoning (6023), La Tropica, Netherlands

Malty, grassy citric flavor. Hints of caramel and plastic. Firmly hopped with British hops which give this beer a distinct character compared with American IPA’s .Interesting beer. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 15, 2009 Almost clear honey colored with a nice off white head that is thick and long lasting. Heavy lacing. Nose is citrus and floral. First whiff is pretty big but it soon fades. A very nice feel is thick and smooth. This IPA is well balanced with sweet caramel and hops that are pine and floral. Some spice late. This beer comes across as delicate with soft features. Peach, apple, and nectarine add to that. This beer has a feminine attitude. It is soft, delicate, sassy, complex, with an understated power. Nice looking, too. altonbrownd (1888), Amsterdam, Netherlands
