COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned. Also available on keg (filtered but not pasteurised).
Meantime are Britain’s only brewers of authentic India Pale Ale. Small batch production allows us to apply the attention to detail and care we require to produce an authentic IPA especially for you. Pound upon pound of Fuggles & Goldings hops are needed to enable us to achieve the dry hopping rates necessary to recreate this great beer style. Enjoy with hot foods and spicy friends, or vice versa.

Aroma of malt, caramel, bread, citrus, rich dried fruits, some hops. Flavour is moderate sweet with a moderate to medium biter finish. Nice full body. Not a refreshing hopbomb, this is definitely a malty English IPA.

UPDATED: NOV 2, 2014 33cl bottle at home. It pours an orangy dark amber colour with a decent and lasting white head. Aroma is of strong floral, sweet caramel malts, some sweet citrus hops, grassy pines and a little lime. Taste is biscuity, sweet malts, a little hop bitterness note, little pines and grass and also some floral notes. It as a light body and a decent mild carbonation. I’ve never had any English IPA before, maybe it tastes like this one. Very well-balanced and easy drinking beer. Although it’s not a hop bomb, it still has the characteristics of an IPA. It is a very interesting beer.

330 ml bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui during October’s “Beer Festival” promotion.

Cloudy hazy dark amber colour with no yeast particles; Less then one-quarter finger head and residual soapy off-white foam which fades in 20 seconds; Small sticky lacing with near zero carbonation; Fragrant and sweet aroma of full Ale malt, with moderate grapefruit, strong floral, strong molasses, light pine, strong yeast, light lime and light grass; Mid to strong sweet taste of rich Ale malt, with grapefruit, strong molasses, strong earth, pine, thin biscuits light lime, moderately bitter hops, cones and grass; Medium body, thick and oily palate; Mouth feel is very rich, very thick Ale malt, with strong hop sweetness and earthyness, coney resin, light pine, moderate citrus and grass. Strong malt vs. loads of dry hopping. Very fulfilling!... Bitterness is strong but not as crazy as in IIPA. Quite impressive, long lasting earthy-malty-sweet finish; Quite dry after taste. Very Hoppy and earthy to mouth.

Comments: This one feels like the brewer threw in the kitchen sink to brew a heavy IPA with strong malt and hops, but without being go overboard to the IIPA level. Stretch to the limit and managed to be tasty and enjoyable, this is one of the few Meantime beers that worth my money!

750ml bottle poured in a chalice. A: Pours a dark orange color with a medium aired bubbled white to beige head. A but cloudy. Small retention and some lacings left S: The flowery and aromatic hops are a must. Also sweet caramel malts. Some bready yeasts too T: Follows the nose. Grassy and bit citrus hops followed by sweet and caramel malts. Very nice bitter end M: Light body. Medium carbonation. A little bit molasses. Nice bitter aftertaste. High drinkability O: Traditional English IPA. Not aggressive as an American IPA however very tasty and drinkable [ BA Review @ 5/28/2011 ]
