Meantime are Britainís only brewers of authentic India Pale Ale. Small batch production allows us to apply the attention to detail and care we require to produce an authentic IPA especially for you. Pound upon pound of Fuggles & Goldings hops are needed to enable us to achieve the dry hopping rates necessary to recreate this great beer style. Enjoy with hot foods and spicy friends, or vice versa.

Tasted on 3/31/14 from a capped 375mL bottle purchased at (had this one several times, but this one was purchased at) Frugal MacDoogal. Pours hazy bright orange with a thick white head that slowly settles into thick lace, leaving residue along the inside of the glass. The nose is earthy and spicy hops with just enough dark bread malt to provide backbone. The flavor is the same, really focused on the earthy and spicy hops with the addition of some orange peel, and the malt showing a bit more caramel. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long nicely bitter earthy, spicy, and orange peel hops.

750ml bottle poured in a chalice. A: Pours a dark orange color with a medium aired bubbled white to beige head. A but cloudy. Small retention and some lacings left S: The flowery and aromatic hops are a must. Also sweet caramel malts. Some bready yeasts too T: Follows the nose. Grassy and bit citrus hops followed by sweet and caramel malts. Very nice bitter end M: Light body. Medium carbonation. A little bit molasses. Nice bitter aftertaste. High drinkability O: Traditional English IPA. Not aggressive as an American IPA however very tasty and drinkable [ BA Review @ 5/28/2011 ]

Hazy orange to amber colour, moderate sized off-white head; aroma of floral and resiny notes, some tropical fruits, minimal caramel and biscuit; taste is the same with surprisingly present maltyness in addition to hops - not a hop monster, but still very good IPA

Bottle, 750 ml. Pours murky, brownish amber with a fair amount of soapy off-white head. Nearly opaque. Mostly caramel malts on the nose, with a hint of pineapple and bready yeast. Caramel malt notes are more subdued and joined by honey and cereal in the taste, and these are bowled over by swathes of citrus and pineapple, and then these themselves are balanced by a hefty dose of potent bitterness coming off what i assume to be the English style hops used, which in conjunction with what i think to be the fruitier american style hops, makes for an interesting combination of flavours. Finish is again bitter and the aftertaste is of a nutty, cereal-y nature. Body is a good medium, carbonation is appropriately lively and the texture is somewhat oily, so this one is an exiting one for the palate. Overall this appears to be an excellent hybrid of English and American IPA styles, and Iím damn impressed by it.

750ml bottle from Waitrose. Clear amber. Thick, fairly dense, lasting, white head. Sweet, biscuit malt. Some pear drop. Nice jamminess to it. Taste is fusty sweet, with a dry edge. Decently balanced bitterness. Palate is light oily, with mouth filling, soft carbonation. Most of any bitterness comes at the end. Tasty stuff. Lots of layers. Best Meantime Iíve had.

This is a splendid IPA, but is decidedly not a West Coast or American IPA. Much more balanced and nuanced, and dare I say even malt centric? Nevertheless, the hops are in abundance -- pine and resin primarily -- and there is sufficient bitterness at the end.

Had this one at the 4th annual Lititz cask beer festival. This one is dry hopped with Golding and Fuggles.

A - Pours pale orange with a small film of white head leaving little to no lace down the glass.

S - Smells of dulled hops, light citric rind, and some very light sweetness. This one is pretty dull if I am being honest but it did get a little better as it sat in my glass...

T - Starts off with a moderate hop bite quickly giving way to a mix of light fruit and dulled sweetness. Around the middle of the glass I began to pick up quite a bit of vegetal flavors that really threw me off and I had a hard time finishing my glass.

M - Medium-Light body and flavor with moderately low carbonation. Pretty nice feel throughout, a bit thin toward the end, with little to no of the 7.5% detectable.

O - I am not sure what happened with this one. I think I may have gotten a pour from the bottom of the cask. Oh well, I enjoyed it for what it was but I doubt I would seek it out again.

On tap at Il Santo Bevitore, Venice. Nice clear amber-orange with a frothy white head. The aroma is caramel, biscuit, peach and apricot. Flavour is fairly sweet malt, smooth, apricot and peach, pine, some earthy notes. Balanced if somewhat simple. Good stuff.
