Meantime are Britain's only brewers of authentic India Pale Ale. Small batch production allows us to apply the attention to detail and care we require to produce an authentic IPA especially for you. Pound upon pound of Fuggles & Goldings hops are needed to enable us to achieve the dry hopping rates necessary to recreate this great beer style. Enjoy with hot foods and spicy friends, or vice versa.

Bottle. Murky light orange body with a ¼ inch dense head. Nose-clean, unsticky hops, mild dry fruits. Taste-medium bitter, soapy, over toasted malts, low to medium alcohol on the back end, biting CO2 on the back end, unsweet grapefruit, pear, light wood and tannins, low key sweetness, hop bitterness is just right. What can I say? It’s an English IPA. Everything is good and solid, just muted and low key. I imagine that this is what the original IPA’s tasted like. Not mind blowing but nice enough. Soapy, greasy mouthfeel.

Pleasant surprise. This amber brew with a frothy off-white head gave off notes of caramel malt, grassy hops, citrus zest. Medium body. Flavor was slightly sweet malt with a hoppy finish. Not exceptional but very pleasing.

750ml from Total Wine, North Raleigh. A pour that’s pretty handsome, much like the bottle this beer comes in. Clear and bright golden, with a fairly rich head. Very understated nose, some fruity notes, clean hops. The mouthfeel is a bit thin for such a relatively heavy IPA, not nearly as aggressively hopped as other descriptions suggest, at least to me. More caramel and malt than I’m looking for, though the somewhat dry finish redeems the brew at the end. Decent, but at this price there are several other English IPAs I’ll hit first.

Courtesy of wickedpete. Cloudy pale body with a medium sized white head. Fresh citrus/floral nose with cotton candy and honey dough malts. Light to moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness with tangerine, floral hops, honey and doughy yeast. Medium body is round with moderate carbonation.

Sampled from a 750ml bottle. Filtered and golden hued. Soapy white head. Pine and floral hops in the nose. Medium bodied with good bitterness. Acidic and dry. Solid malt backbone. Citrus and piney hops. Big bitterness. Well done.
