sm89walt (168), Norwich and Canterbury, Norfolk, England Mar 2, 2008 75cl bottle. This IPA pours a crystal clear amber colour with a huge, fluffy off-white head to begin with, before it dissipates fairly rapidly to leave a few minute islands of carbonation floating aimlessly around the edge of the glass. It has perfumed toffee aromas, but it is predominantly a grassy hop nose with a pleasant grapefruit character. The flavours are nice and strong, once again of hops. This time, however, the hops on offer are in the piney, resiny spectrum with brief, intermittent appearances of orange. The finish has a bitter resiny quality about it that lasts long into the back of the throat, depositing the alcoholic strength of this IPA on the tongue, yet charmingly, not excessively. Subductively smooth and creamy mouthfeel; a winner all across the board.
Gary__ (40), London, Greater London, England Jul 26, 2008 . They claim on the long winded blurb on the bottle that the recipe is the same as war-time India Pale Ales .As you drink this beer you’re left feeling like maybe that’s true. I lost that cyinical edge to the claims and realised that maybe this beer might be similar to IPA’s drank by soliders in the trenches and that is just extremly cool. There are so few real IPA’S brewerd in the UK. Those lame 5 % bitters that are called IPA for kudos suck . The main flavours of Meantime India Pale Ale are sorta aromatic and dry.I got oranges, floral flowers and soothing hop bitterness. . Very cool and legit beer. jzzbassman (673), New Albany, Mississippi, USA Jul 22, 2008 Bottle. Pours a nice orange with small bubbles and a rocky head. Aroma does not speak of dry hopping as it as a bit slight, but pleasant. Nice caramel malt flavors with some bracing bitterness, different than most American IPA’s, but nice hop profile. Finishes clean AND sweet. CamdenD (557), Madrid, Spain Jul 21, 2008 Unfortunate sweet nose and tongue feel. Too bad, as I was excited to see an authentic take on an IPA. Just don’t like it, I suppose, perhaps a bad bottle even, as this was truly not the beer that is described here. One-sided and sticky-sweet. danmans (5), Wilmington, Delaware, USA does not count Jul 19, 2008 Pours with a decent head and large bubbles which hang around awhile. The aroma is subdued but very pleasant. Wild flowers, lemons and oranges. Although, it doesn’t have that pine scent that American IPA’s have. Flavor is also subdued. Definitely different from most of the IPA’s on this side of the pond. Nowhere near as bitter and has a nice, sweet aftertaste. Although its decent its nowhere near as hoppy as I would like. ruggedman (416), Portland, Maine, USA Jul 16, 2008 Mouthfeel is this IPA’s best trait. It’s super smooth feeling and nice to drink. The hops are nice citrus flavors and aromas of fruits. One of my favorite IPAs from across the pond.
