COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle.
Meantime Brew Master, Alastair Hook, has spent 20 years planning the quintessential English lager. His reasoning is simple. The great European lager brewers use very soft water and neutral yeasts to ensure that only the flavours of their locally grown malt and hops come to the fore. East Anglia is home to the world’s finest malting barley and Kent is home to some of the world’s best hops. Midway between the two, London is ideally placed to bring them together in a straightforward, clean, long-matured, unpasteurised lager, where all you can taste is malt and hop.

Keg at youngs, standard lager and probably the worse side of Meantime. Straw coloured nose too alcoholic and just very bog standard lager.

Fra fad. Klar gylden, lys humlet aroma. Hvidt, tykt skum. Diskret carb. Humlet med en smule syre. Forholdsvis anonym.

Bottle in pint glass. Slightly hazy gold. No real aroma (might have been over-cold). Bland bitter taste. Mid bodied, high carbonation. OK lager, but dull.

Philym (1003) - St Neots, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - OCT 20, 2013
Appearance: Clear light amber with finger thick white head. Aroma: Bread/biscuit, floral, spicy, corn and mineral. Taste: Low sweetness, low/medium bitterness and medium sourness. Palate: Thick rough texture, light body, prickly carbonation, astringent with a lingering finish of corn, biscuit and a subtle citrus like tartness. Comments: Very good, clean crisp and left a slight glass lace.

Bottled. Pale amber colour with small white head and lively carbonation. Biscuity aroma. Fresh, dry flavours with just a hint of bubblegum. A very clean, subtle finish. For a lager this is pretty pleasant.

330ml bottle bought in City Super, TST, Hong Kong. I didn’t hold out for anything special for this beer as it is a lager and not my style. As far as lagers go though, it’s better than the macros and like Tsing Tao or Carlsberg and it is refreshing after a day’s work, but it’s not a beer I will choose again, if there is an alternative.

Light haze on this gold beer, tidy white head. Palate is light and crisp and semi dry. Fresh minerals. Light pale malt. Dry finish. Not much else going on. A poor show from Meantime - they can do much better than this.

Actually pretty tasty for a larger. Rich, creamy malt profile, with some lemon and grass, wood.
