Bottle and keg - force carbonated. Is available cask conditioned. Cold fermented and lagered.
Ingredients: Pale ale malt, pale crystal malt, and Munich malt: Cascade, Cluster, and Goldings hops.

One hundred and fifty years ago the new bitter beer style, Pale Ale, was so popular that brewers had to import Californian hops to meet demand. Meantime London Pale Ale continues that tradition by combining lots of American Cascade and Centennial hops to give it a complex citrus aroma and buckets full of local Kentish Goldings to provide the bitterness that makes the style so refreshing. Together they conspire to assail the nose with a complex, heady mix of spearmint, grass and ‘hop sack’ aromas, fruity citrus flavours and a bitter finish that makes pale ale drinking a truly rewarding experience.

330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy copper with a thin off-white head. Decent if unremarkable aroma with hops and a little yeast. Flavours of citrus, perhaps some peach. A good amount of hops and enough bitterness to counterbalance the real sweetness this beer has. A good pale ale, pretty well balanced.

Bottle, 33cl. Pours with a golden colour under a foamy white head. Hoppy aroma with raisins and plum, quite nice and enticing. The flavours are well-rounded, somewhat fruity with pomegranate-like notes, not too malty. Mild to medium body, texture is oily and finish on the long side.

33 cl bottle@boattrip on the Thames in plastic glass@approx 8 degrees Pours amber golden with small white head with sufficient retention. Mild aroma dominated by malt but also with a nice flowery hoppiness. Well balanced taste on the malty, sweet side but with that nice, flowery hoppiness ending in a slightly bitter aftertaste. Somewhat thin palate subtracts, but this a pleasant, drinkable bitter though not that interesting.

Disappointing I’m afraid. Certainly a pale ale of the English traditional variery rather than one that proxies APAs. Bready, biscuity in the malt with a little floral bitterness in the hops. But really quite plain in taste.
