Commercial Description:
Avaailable on Keg and in 750ml bottles.
George Washington was a big fan of imported English Porter. By 1769 he'd lost his taste for British beers. After all, it was keeping the Redcoats fighting. Our Porter is based on a recipe from 1750. We bring you the original aromas and flavours of the beer that made London the world's brewing capital, flavours we know Washington would have loved. Time, care and attention have enabled us to produce a blend of beers bringing you the flavour of the 1750's. Share this beer with friends and enjoy with barbeques, fish or shellfish. The ruby colour & bottle conditioning are proof of its heritage and authenticity.

Dark brown pour with a small tan head that mostly diminished with fair lacing, no visible carbonation, opaque, and an orange brown hue. Nose was malty, sweet, chocolate, coffee and some licorice notes. Flavor was licorice, mild coffee, bitter chocolate.

Bottle: Mild depth of brown with bif, fizzy tan head. Plenty of carbonation here. Mild coffee and roasty aroma, sort of sweet. Tastes is roasty and coffee filled, but has a strange feeling of being stored in a pvc pipe. Could this be the yeast? Whatever is was, I didn’t jive with this one.

Bottle: Cork pops loud and with fervor. Ample head, plenty of carbonation, maybe near a gusher. Lots of head and lacing that dissiapaits quickly. The nose is bright and roasty with a zesty spicy carbonated mouthfeel. Lots of minerally roast, very earthy and....english without much of the astringency you sometimes find with american versions. The finish is acidic and brash, the carbonation just overrules everything, which is so unlike the british. Hmmm.

Pours a clar dk mahogan with a huge fizzy tan head. Light aroma of chocolate and light roast. Soft woody slightly acidic and malty. Pretty dry and the high carbonation was a bit much. Lingering slightly sour finish.

Reddish amber color with a small tan head. Nose of chocolate and some coffee....roasted malt nose. Palate is full bodied with a rich malt sweetness. Nutty, chocolate and some toffee notes as well. Great finish and enjoyable beer.

(Bottle on 2008-08-16) Deep reddish brown. Clear. Medium-sized fizzy head that disappeared quickly. Liquorice and roastedness in nose. Full-bodied palate with quite a lot carbonation. Chocolate, roastedness, light bitterness, some coffee and sweetness in taste. Quite nice.

Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Nice coffee and chocolate aroma. Smooth flavor. A very well done Porter. A very sweet finish, but good nonetheless. My first beer from Meantime, I hope to have some more.

750ml Bottle: Aroma of malts, coffee, chocolate, ash, nuts, and a hint of roasting. Poured dark brown with a hint of ruby in color and a large, tan head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Slightly sparkling. Ok lacing. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of cocoa, coffee, cream, sugar, and roasting. Medium body. Chalky texture. Average to lively carbonation. Sweet, cocoa and sugar finish is a bit dry.
