Commercial Description:
Avaailable on Keg and in 750ml bottles.
George Washington was a big fan of imported English Porter. By 1769 he'd lost his taste for British beers. After all, it was keeping the Redcoats fighting. Our Porter is based on a recipe from 1750. We bring you the original aromas and flavours of the beer that made London the world's brewing capital, flavours we know Washington would have loved. Time, care and attention have enabled us to produce a blend of beers bringing you the flavour of the 1750's. Share this beer with friends and enjoy with barbeques, fish or shellfish. The ruby colour & bottle conditioning are proof of its heritage and authenticity.

I like this. Porter on a mild dose of steriods perhaps? Although the recipe purports to be very authentic (and I have absolutly no reason to doubt this) this porter is certainly a stronger, bigger souped up style. Chocolate and dry roast / metal shavings on the nose. Palate weight is high for the style and shows plenty of chocolate and malts, although there’s a clear dry kick late that serves as a reminder that this beer is a porter. Awesome packaging too.

Pours a clear dark brown with a tan head. Nose is thick malts. Caramel is there too. Flavor is rich with malted caramel like flavors. Mild roasted tones. Smooth sweet edge to it. I think that defines this one: smooth. Smooth carbonation and a good liquid feel make this a nice one to try. Definitely worth it.

Pours murky brown, medium tan head. Aroma is simply amazing: Big chocolate notes, tobacco, cherries, cookie dough and vanilla. Flavor is equally impressive, big sweet chocolate notes start, giving way to dry breadiness, here comes a coffee note, and a long bitter spell, smokey tobacco notes under a slightly grassy finish. A perfect English Porter, very well executed.

750 ml. Translucent dark brown with a red tint. Large, five finger-plus head settles into a rocky and enduring cap. Burnt-toasted marshmallow, char, espresso, and spicy green herb aroma. Great balance of caramel-molasses goodness against some herby hops, but more so against the bittering from the roasted malt flavors of coffee, charred wood, and slight cocoa. The roast flavors take over at the end, as they should. Medium body is slightly watery in a drinkable way, and smooth, but seems to have lots of airy carbonation that makes it less so. Finish is dry, with lots of roasted aftertastes.

Bottle, bought @ Oeltorvet.dk. Pours a deep nutty-brown with a small creamy beige head - leaving good lacing. Aroma is light smoky, and powerfully roasted as well as a little dark chocolate. Lovely creamy, but still drinkable. Flavour is well roasted with a light liqourice and smokiness. The chocolate clearly dominates the finish.

Bottle, 75cl. DØE Porter/Stout tasting. The beer pours a dark reddish brown color, with a lightbrown head. The aroma is licorice and coffee, with notes of roasted/dark malts. The flavor is coffee and licorice. The beer has a nice mouthfeel, and overall it is above average.

Dark brown coloured body with a really bright ruby tint. Nice light tan head that tops the beer nicely. Aroma of strong malt, grapes, alcohol, nuts and a light spice. Medium-bodied; Mellow sweetness with a good malt backbone with some subtle fruity flavours. Aftertaste shows a bit of the nuttiness and some malt, but leaves the mouth dry and refreshed - not bitter at all. Overall, a good beer - missing some parts, definitely...but worth trying! I sampled this 75 cL bottle shared with Jon[r888710] purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in Washington, D.C. on 10-October-2005.

Pours a thin brown at first, but gathers coloration and ends up looking nearly black as you get it all into the glass. Aromas are vinuous, red wine, grapes, chocolate and dry coffee. Lightly carbonated. Short finish. Sharp hops arrive on the palate. They stay on, lemony and herbal, as the malts gather dry, chickory, black tea and coffee notes.
