CapFlu (3480), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Jan 8, 2008 (750ml bottle) Purchased from Bottleworks for an ungodly $9.49. Pours a thin, biege dissipating head with a black body. Nose is mildly coffee and the flavour is weak and watery. I have no idea why this costs so much? Its a very plain porter. I’d much rather have the John Sleeman Presents. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 25, 2007 Superior English style porter. This relatively expensive expensive bomber poured a black with lots of lace, some inteesting mocha head. Above average carbobantion, roasted barley quite well done.
Tasty and smooth consistent flavour, a delight with food or even by itself. Medium mouthfeel RollinHard (750), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Dec 24, 2007 Pours brown with red highlights and a fluffy tan head. Aroma is very soft. Some coffee, toast, nuts, a light tartness. Tastes nice and gentle and keeps the astringency light. Some coffee, nuts, a small amount of chocolate, and an even more flavor finish with an almost hazelnut or macedamia nut flavor. Medium to thin bodied, but creamier texture than expected of the style. Pretty good, but I don’t know how much it really would stand out amongst other porters. GG (1613), NorCal, California, USA Dec 24, 2007 NorCal December ’07 - A nice little porter from Meantime. I really dig their coffee porter, so I was geeked up to give this a go. Aroma is semi-sweet chocolate, softly roasted, bready and a touch of raisins. Appearance was a bit of a suprise, with a mahogany/cherrywood like pour and a wispyish head. Flavors were very mild with notes of roast, caramel, chocolate and spices. Overall not the greatest porter in the world, but drinkable and enjoyable. kkearn (994), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 23, 2007 750mL bottle. Poured cloudy brown, with a moderate sized tan head. Aroma is primarily chocolate malt, with some coffee. Flavor is burnt chocolate malt, again with some coffee, along with some hops, ash, and fruit. Good porter, but a bit pricey for its quality. jlthiering (47), Viginia Beach, Maryland, USA Dec 7, 2007 The taste was raisin like with great coffee like background taste. After the first drink the raisin became more present. Great dark beer. wickedpete (625), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA Dec 7, 2007 Thin dark black pour with a slight head formation. Aroma is chocolaty with some licorice showing through. Flavor is chocolate and coffee dominated. Very rich overall but with a slight roasted flavor at the finish. bitbucket (2026), Kirkland, Washington, USA Dec 2, 2007 Corked 750. Pours clear dark brown with a lacy tan head. Brown sugar aroma apparent upon opening. Roasty chocolate aroma with a touch of noble hop. Smooth medium body and moderate carbonation. Sweet taste of coffee, chocolate, prunes, roasted nuts. Semi-dry finish. This one’s going to be pretty easy to finish.
