Commercial Description:
Avaailable on Keg and in 750ml bottles.
George Washington was a big fan of imported English Porter. By 1769 he'd lost his taste for British beers. After all, it was keeping the Redcoats fighting. Our Porter is based on a recipe from 1750. We bring you the original aromas and flavours of the beer that made London the world's brewing capital, flavours we know Washington would have loved. Time, care and attention have enabled us to produce a blend of beers bringing you the flavour of the 1750's. Share this beer with friends and enjoy with barbeques, fish or shellfish. The ruby colour & bottle conditioning are proof of its heritage and authenticity.

Corked 750. Pours clear dark brown with a lacy tan head. Brown sugar aroma apparent upon opening. Roasty chocolate aroma with a touch of noble hop. Smooth medium body and moderate carbonation. Sweet taste of coffee, chocolate, prunes, roasted nuts. Semi-dry finish. This one’s going to be pretty easy to finish.

Brown color with a light head. Aroma is roasty with lots of freshly roasted malt and hints of coffee and chocolate. Taste is dominated by well roasted malts, bits of coffee, chocolate, and hop bitterness. Mouthfeel goes thin a bit early, but still highly drinkable and good with most foods, as it doesn’t overpower like some porters/stouts. Not all that exciting, but really nice tor try a "traditional" porter.

Poured from the 750ml bottle, very dark almost opaque colour, the first pour produced a lively light brown head. Strong roasted malt aroma, then a very rich mouth full of dark chocolate and almost a burnt coffee texture, very dry and hardly a hint of any alcohol.

Sample from bottle, at Porterfestivalen in Gothenburg 071110. Dark brown/a bit red color with light brown head. Aroma of rosted malt, coffee, chocolate, fruit and maybe some bitter hops. Tastes of roasted malt, a bit sourish, coffee, dark fruit, some tobacco and a bit of bitter hops. The mouthfeel is creamy and dry and the carbonation is light.

on tap at the Brick Store Pub on 11/4/07. Not quite what I expected. The beer looked really good, especially in it’s own stem glass - brick store serves well... but it was a bit off. Nothing too special here... A little sour and not as malty as I would have hoped. There are some nice notes of coffee. Would not buy again.

10/31/07 From the bottle. Aroma is rich and excellent, with sweet roasted grains and portlike dried fruit. Appearance is brown, not dark brown, with a good off-white head. Flavor is rich, but not quite as rich as the aroma, with a more regular roast malt forward, low slightly fruity sweetness and no hop character. Mouthfeel is full bodied with a lightly grainy feel amd medium carb bite. Overall, interesting, only thing that would make it better is more of that baltic-porter like richness from the aroma in the flavor.

Tap at Brew Wharf. Dark brown/black beer. Aroma is quite lovely with soft molasses and toasted nuts. Light chocolate and a soft earthy character. Milky sweet but very well balanced. Some light caramel and toasty flavour. A touch of minerally character, dark coffee and bitter chocolate. Nice beer, but it comes across a bit dead.
