tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Sep 25, 2007 750 mL bottle. Deep brown color with a creamy tight laced tan head. Aroma is great. Caramel, fig, licorice, tobacco. Nice and intense. This has a very nice flavor that follows the aroma to a T. One of the best porters I’ve set my lips upon. stefanje (937), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Sep 13, 2007 750ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with red around the edges. The head is light khaki and is meager with moderate duration. Aroma is light-medium with anise and caramel. Flavor is complex with licorice, coffee, caramel, roasted malts, cherries, and chocolate. Mouthfeel is just a touch thin, carbonation is a bit weak. Finish is long and sweet with vanilla and butterscotch. Overall this is a fine, drinkable porter. ChainGangGuy (2523), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Sep 11, 2007 Appearance: Pours a dark, dark reddish-brown body with a fizzy, small off-white head.
Smell: Chalky, chocolatey aroma with plenty of roasted malt, some dark caramel, and a hint of licorice.
Taste: Roasted malt flavor with a more subtle bitter chocolate taste. Licorice and even hints of dried fruits. Only the very lightest of hop bitterness. Grows watery near the faintly sour finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Soft carbonation.
Drinkability: Tasty AND traditional. Grovlam (3790), Copenhagen, Denmark Sep 9, 2007 Bottle. Large creamy off-white head that mostly lasted. Excellent and thick film like lacework. Clear and sparkling body with a dark mahogany color. Aroma was dominated by coffee and roasted malty notes. Some underlying caramel, fruit and hint of hops. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Light to moderated bitter and sweet flavor. Burned bitter coffee finish. dyetube (397), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 8, 2007 This beer pours a dark brown really pretty much black with a large tan head! Wow this thing has a wonderful smell! Roasted toffees, coffee, and chocolate! the taste is just as good as the aromas! Very dry and roasty. This is one WELL crafted beer! Cheers! radiomgb (1921), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Sep 8, 2007 Dark brown with ruby coloured edges, thin tan coloured head, good lacing. The aroma was sweet, lots of malt, chocolate, light roast, nutty, light caramel. The flavour is of chocolate malts, nuts, plums, good roast, moderate sweetness, slightly chalky, coffee and molasses. Mildly sweet mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes lingering, sweet, with some roasted malts. Not bad, this is a thin porter, maybe more of a brown ale. Good roast with no alcohol noticable.

keith0718 (157), Olathe, Kansas, USA Aug 31, 2007 Updated: Mar 27, 2008A good porter with a dominant raisin flavor in the malt character, which stands out more than anything. Not quite the toasty, buttery maple/caramel flavor with which Fuller’s has spoiled me.
