Commercial Description:
Avaailable on Keg and in 750ml bottles.
George Washington was a big fan of imported English Porter. By 1769 he'd lost his taste for British beers. After all, it was keeping the Redcoats fighting. Our Porter is based on a recipe from 1750. We bring you the original aromas and flavours of the beer that made London the world's brewing capital, flavours we know Washington would have loved. Time, care and attention have enabled us to produce a blend of beers bringing you the flavour of the 1750's. Share this beer with friends and enjoy with barbeques, fish or shellfish. The ruby colour & bottle conditioning are proof of its heritage and authenticity.

A good porter with a dominant raisin flavor in the malt character, which stands out more than anything. Not quite the toasty, buttery maple/caramel flavor with which Fuller’s has spoiled me.

Well, smelled great. This probably the best Porter that I have ever had, but that being said, it is not a favoured style. The nose was really great and in general, the thing went down well enough. Lacked the ashy-ness that I associated with most porters.

A very average porter. Pours a reddish brown with fizzy light tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, and a bit of chocolate. Flavors are pretty much the same. A little creamy, but over not a very interesting porter.

Tap@Brewwharf. Loads of coffee and licorice in the aroma. Black color, light brown head, fair lace. Sweet, coffee, no strong flavors, but nice. Soft mouthfeel.

Nice nose on this one, a buttery caramel, with mild roast and milk chocolate, and just a hint of grassy hops. Deep ruby garnet color with medium khaki head. Mmm, rich rounded chocolate caramel flavors, encircled with just a touch of roastiness leading into a semi-dry finish that left just a touch of residual hop bitterness. One flaw: a touch metallic on the lips and tip of the tongue after swallowing. Otherwise an excellent combination of rich character and easy drinkability. Just what a great porter ought to be.

Bottle. Corked and caged 750mL. Pours dark brown to near black. Small fading tan head. Nose is roasty with dark chocolate and some burnt caramel. Soft coffee as well. Very mild. Taste is equally mild. Light dark chocolate flavors, some coffee, and roasted malts. Very subtle and not very robust like many porters. Not sure of the vintage but perhaps that has affected it. Body is lighter (light-medium, really) with moderate, creamy carbonation. Ends with more chocolate, light caramel, roasted malts, coffee and mild hops. Not bad at all!

Dark brown with a lasting tan head. Lots of roast notes in the aroma, caramel, chocolate and coffee dominates, with a hint of smoke and licorice. Rich and full flavour with caramel sweetness and roast dryness
