Commercial Description:
Avaailable on Keg and in 750ml bottles.
George Washington was a big fan of imported English Porter. By 1769 he'd lost his taste for British beers. After all, it was keeping the Redcoats fighting. Our Porter is based on a recipe from 1750. We bring you the original aromas and flavours of the beer that made London the world's brewing capital, flavours we know Washington would have loved. Time, care and attention have enabled us to produce a blend of beers bringing you the flavour of the 1750's. Share this beer with friends and enjoy with barbeques, fish or shellfish. The ruby colour & bottle conditioning are proof of its heritage and authenticity.

Bottle. Black color with a average frothy / creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, mild coffee, vanilla. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter (malt / coffee bitter) with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily / creamy, carbonation is soft. Okay Porter, but simple.

Pours close to black with a reddish hue and a small tannish head. The aroma has moderately roasted malt and an off fruit flavor for the style. Medium / thick body with quite a bit of sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with dark fruits and roasted malt and a bit of sweetness. The finish has some hop presence and some soapiness. An okay porter.

Dark brown with a red hew & a solid brown head. aroma is of nuts, caramel , chocolate & slight roast coffee. Body is filling - smooth & softly carbonated. Milky Light sweetness before a nice hoppy end. Very simple - but pleasant!

On tap at the PIB 2007. Pours dark brown with faint red around the edges. Smooth and chocolaty porter. Faint coffee flavors in the finish. Had a bit more body then most English porters available here and a good depth of malt flavors. Very nice porter without being over the top.

Bottle from BevMo. Pours a dark brownish color. Small tan head. Rich roasted coffee aromas with some chocolate in there as well. Roasty flavors right up front with some sweet, sugary chocotate. Full flavored, yet mild at the same time. good stuff.

750 mL bottle. Clear ruby brown with big creamy light tan head. Sweet malty aroma with berry and leather notes. Smooth silky palate. Initial taste subdued and slightly malty transitioning to a chocolate taste with hints of dried fruit and finishing with a bitter chocolate and richly smokey taste. I agree this would pair well the BBQ.

75cl bottle. Malty aroma but little else. Pours ruby colour with tan head. Compared with other ales I have tasted recently, this one was disappiointing in the flavour department. Hints of prunes and coffee; not particularly complex. Quite thin and dull on the palate. The bottle says "Our Porter is based on a recipe from 1750", well, fortunately for me, other ales have moved on since then.

750ml bottle as in picture. Pours dark brown with a good tan head. The aroma and taste are both dominated by sweet roasted malts. Decent finish and good body. Not the most complex of beers, but very enjoyable.
