Commercial Description:
Avaailable on Keg and in 750ml bottles.
George Washington was a big fan of imported English Porter. By 1769 he'd lost his taste for British beers. After all, it was keeping the Redcoats fighting. Our Porter is based on a recipe from 1750. We bring you the original aromas and flavours of the beer that made London the world's brewing capital, flavours we know Washington would have loved. Time, care and attention have enabled us to produce a blend of beers bringing you the flavour of the 1750's. Share this beer with friends and enjoy with barbeques, fish or shellfish. The ruby colour & bottle conditioning are proof of its heritage and authenticity.

Pours much a lighter brown than expected. The flavor is there and the beer doesn’t drink like a meal, drinkable. I get a smokey, fishy after taste similar to Alaskan Smoked Porter but not as prevalent, which I like alot. This beer would be a good choice for pairing.

Extremely sweet aroma with hints of coffee and dark chocolate. Pours a not-quite-black brown with small, white head. Really well developed coffee notes in the flavor. Nice bitter chocolate as well. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say this beer deserves a better rating than a 3.56.

In the 750 mL bottle from Beertopia. This bottle was so full that there was dried beer around the top of the cork seal and no headspace. Also, there was no pressure under the cork when it was popped. However, my concerns were for naught as the beer poured a beautiful beige head atop a dark brown (not black) beer. The aroma seemed slightly sour, but also the smell of sorhgum. The falcor was delightful: sweet from dense molasses and sorhgum flavors and mildly chocolate. Has a clearly defined bitterness as evidenced by the residual drying bitter flavor in the terminal palate. This was not coffee-like, not was it roasted at all. This is what I want to taste in a true porter. Really nice and I think underrated here at 3.5!

Corked bottle from Whole Fodds, Sarasota, FL. Poured dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate toasted nutty malt aroma. Medium body. Medium roasted balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable beer. Solid drinkable beer.

750ml in a compact bottle bought at The St Albans Beer Festival in 2005 (bb. May ’08). Rocky, dense brownish head over a dark brown body. Dark malty aroma. Flavour is a blend of coffee, dark fruits and burnt malt. Delicate roasted bitter finish. Moderate palate and easy drinkability (sampled at a drinking party at CatweazleTroms 18.11.2006).
