Commercial Description:
Avaailable on Keg and in 750ml bottles.
George Washington was a big fan of imported English Porter. By 1769 he'd lost his taste for British beers. After all, it was keeping the Redcoats fighting. Our Porter is based on a recipe from 1750. We bring you the original aromas and flavours of the beer that made London the world's brewing capital, flavours we know Washington would have loved. Time, care and attention have enabled us to produce a blend of beers bringing you the flavour of the 1750's. Share this beer with friends and enjoy with barbeques, fish or shellfish. The ruby colour & bottle conditioning are proof of its heritage and authenticity.

Deep brown, light passes through, good initial head fades almost completely. Aroma clearly of milk chocolate with a hint of a sour tang. Flavor is loads of milk chocolate, some roastiness, a bit of coffee, and a very pleasant hop bitterness. Much better than I had expected, this really was quite nice. Better than the numbers indicate.

(05.09.06) Bomber bottle from DiCarlo’s, Mundelein, IL Poured clear dark brown with a small white head. Soft carbonation. Roasted malt aroma. Medium bodied porter that starts dry with slight malt sweetness and expresso coffee and dark chocolate flavors. Finished dry with light lingering bitterness. Though rather thin, this porter is smooth, flavorable, and enjoyable.

Bottle picked up at Sainsbury’s Kidlington. Aroma is sweet malty, roasted and coffeeish, colour dark brown, Malty in taste touch of sweetness, bit on the dry side but not a bad beer at all.

The aroma has candy, coffee, and a little smokey-earthy peat. The appearance is red/brown with a small tan head. The flavor is a little strange for a porter. I know I can taste the cork, with leather, caramel, coffee, and toasted malt. The palate is average for a porter. Overall it’s ok but not the best porter.

BCA (from Sainsburys). Initially this is fairly malty with earthy hops, caramel and a little nutty roast. Fairly dry and quite drinkable in the mouth with building roastiness and a pleasantly light hoppy finish. Quite a drinkable porter in a slightly different way then many.
