Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 26, 2006 Pour is dark dark brown with a thin tan head...smell is cocoa and chocolate and quite inticing...the tast was sweet and and has lots of cocoa...finish was very quick and slight... shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA May 23, 2006 Very dark brown almost black pour with a nice mocha creamy head. The aroma is roast and chocolate. The flavor is very well blended smooth dark malt and roast. The acid is slight and the sweetness counteracts it. A very nice porter. If this was common in the 1750, those folks were lucky. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA May 16, 2006 This is a very smooth and gentle porter, nice mouthfeel with just the right levels of carbonation and roasted acidity. Semi sweet chocolate and creamy coffee, a little bit of sweet fruitiness comes through as it warms, not overly complex, but worth trying. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA May 16, 2006 This corked and caged bottled brew poured a large sized head of foam under a frothy top of fine to large sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind a semi-transparent dark ruby red brown colored softly carbonated body. The aroma was mild with sweet dark malty notes. The mouth feel was smooth initially and tingly in the finish with a mild sweet mild hop aftertaste. The flavor was thin with malty slightly hoppy mild dark malt notes. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England May 12, 2006 75cl bottle from Sainsbury. What a surprise this was on a Monday evening to find this and the IPA in my local store. Very dark brown colour with thick lasting beige head. Choc/coffee/dry charcoal. Intense flavours in the mouth. Good fruit, black cherry, plum. Really like it. Bit too carbonated. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA May 10, 2006 A refreshing porter taht will complement many foods very well. Very dark brownish red body with a thin head. Caramel and cocoa in the aroma. Pleasantly malty. Slightly sweet with lactose, but a smooth, refreshing clean finish. hammenlind (738), Sundbyberg, Sweden May 9, 2006 Black red-ish colour. Thin beige head. Acidic and fruity with som burnt notes. Acidic in flavour as well with hints of malt. Dry finish. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA May 6, 2006 Bottle: Ruby brown, not as dark as suspected, thin off-white head, spotty lacing. Pale bready aroma, not very roasty, otherwise semi-sweet. Fairly sweet malty flavor, semi-sweet roasted malt, not sour like the London style. Low hop profile, unlike most PNW styles. Body and mouthfeel are moderate. Finishes semi-sweet, very pale roasted malts, somewhat like a belgian in its sweetness. Not heavy, fairly light in fact. Thanks to the real Larry for this one!
