Commercial Description:
Avaailable on Keg and in 750ml bottles.
George Washington was a big fan of imported English Porter. By 1769 he'd lost his taste for British beers. After all, it was keeping the Redcoats fighting. Our Porter is based on a recipe from 1750. We bring you the original aromas and flavours of the beer that made London the world's brewing capital, flavours we know Washington would have loved. Time, care and attention have enabled us to produce a blend of beers bringing you the flavour of the 1750's. Share this beer with friends and enjoy with barbeques, fish or shellfish. The ruby colour & bottle conditioning are proof of its heritage and authenticity.

Bottle: Ruby brown, not as dark as suspected, thin off-white head, spotty lacing.   Pale bready aroma, not very roasty, otherwise semi-sweet.   Fairly sweet malty flavor, semi-sweet roasted malt, not sour like the London style.   Low hop profile, unlike most PNW styles.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes semi-sweet, very pale roasted malts, somewhat like a belgian in its sweetness.   Not heavy, fairly light in fact.   Thanks to the real Larry for this one!

Not too shabby. A thin beige head rested atop a dark brown body. Aroma held notes of smoke, dried fruit, hops, roasted malt, chocolate, toasted nuts. Medium body and smooth feel. The flavor had some sweetness balanced with a dry and bitter finish.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry & Dave B. -- courtesy of Dave B. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a large lasting foamy off-white head. Dry aroma of roasted malt, fruit and chocolate. Flavour’s also dry and roasty along with some yeast, coffee and a nice slightly hoppy and chocolatey finish. Medium bodied. Pretty different then what I expected from a "London Porter" and although it was quite simple, it was very pleasant.

Beige, Lacing diminishing head. Dark brown almost black colour. Smells old furnitures and bacon. Taste smokey and dark chocolate. Notes of cofee and a nice warming alcohol feeling.

Bottled. Black, firm beige head. Salt, coffee, licorice, chocolate... in both aroma and flavour. Feels refreshing with a full body.

25 oz bottle. Pours a translucent brown with a thinish beige head that receded to a thin covering. Aroma is fairly light with chocolate malt, caramel, dry yeastiness, and some hoppiness. Flavor is fairly hoppy up front for a Porter with alot of chocolate malt, and some toffee and coffee. Finish is dry and a little chalky with some husky graininess. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. A little watery late in the finish. Overall, drinkable but not a favorite. The more I had of it though, the more it grew on me.

pours looks thin. reddish brown. the head is brown in some areas and white in others. a very hoppy aroma with just a hint of roasty chocolate. very dry and chalky. bitter at first turning sweet. tons of coffee, roasted nut, chocolate, and hop notes. surprisingly robust and med-full bodied even though the aroma was very weak and the pour was thin.

Bottle (750ml). Shared with blankboy and Dave B, Dave’s bottle. Poured very dark mahogany with a huge beige head. Aroma is VERY dry, lots of yeast, toasty malt, plenty of dry UK hops, some appleseed bitterness, with hints of chocolate and coffee, even a bit of lactose - unusual and solid. Taste is similar to the aroma, yeasty and tart apricot on top of the light chocolate - interesting. Mouthfeel is average, roasty - nice. Really liked it, unusual - thanks, Dave!
