Commercial Description:
Avaailable on Keg and in 750ml bottles.
George Washington was a big fan of imported English Porter. By 1769 he'd lost his taste for British beers. After all, it was keeping the Redcoats fighting. Our Porter is based on a recipe from 1750. We bring you the original aromas and flavours of the beer that made London the world's brewing capital, flavours we know Washington would have loved. Time, care and attention have enabled us to produce a blend of beers bringing you the flavour of the 1750's. Share this beer with friends and enjoy with barbeques, fish or shellfish. The ruby colour & bottle conditioning are proof of its heritage and authenticity.

Bottle @ LCRBM 08: Poured a black brown with a light brown head. Aroma is sweet coffee and alcohol. Taste is also sweet with roasted malts and coffee.

Bottle @ LCRBM 2008. Roast and cardemom in the aroma. Sweetish, malty flavor with cardemom and licorice. Good beer, like most Meantime beers.

Courtesy of Sea Bass who as able to bring a bottle that doesn’t explode with foam to the ceiling like the one I had brought a few months back. Pours somewhat murky brown with thin tan head. The aroma is on the bold side with molasses, a bit of burnt molasses and some roasted malts. The taste is as full as the aroma bringing up sweet molasses with charred edges and moving toward roasted malts, a dash of coffee and faint dark fruity esters. This is yummy stuff.

Somehow not quite all there. When I think of a London Porter I think of Fullers, with a silky mouthfeel, a nearly opaque appearance, and intensity of coffee and burnt malts. Somewhat thin in the mouth as well. This is ok, with some dried fruit notes, but not up to my expectations from a British craft porter.

Pours brown, tan head. Aroma of nice chocolat malt. Taste, grilled, coffee/espresso malts, good notes of caramel and licorice. Light touch of hops blending quite well with the malts. The bottle had some age and the carbonation was low, still a very decent porter.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2008) Dark brown colour with huge, pale brown head. Malty, slightly roasted nose with notes of dark fruit, coffee and dark, ripe cherries. Malty, roasted taste with nuts, dark fruit, raisins and prunes leading to dark chocolate and roasted hints of coffee in the finish. Rather complex, but nicely balanced. More fruity and less roasty than most porters. Very nice one though.

Dark brown, creamy, thin, malty, fruity, little coffee, little vanilla, slight nut, lots of CO2. Cool bottle?
