bierkoning (5987), La Tropica, Netherlands Oct 27, 2008 Bottle @ LCRBM 2008. Roast and cardemom in the aroma. Sweetish, malty flavor with cardemom and licorice. Good beer, like most Meantime beers. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Oct 26, 2008 Courtesy of Sea Bass who as able to bring a bottle that doesn’t explode with foam to the ceiling like the one I had brought a few months back. Pours somewhat murky brown with thin tan head. The aroma is on the bold side with molasses, a bit of burnt molasses and some roasted malts. The taste is as full as the aroma bringing up sweet molasses with charred edges and moving toward roasted malts, a dash of coffee and faint dark fruity esters. This is yummy stuff. daniele (1642), Italy Oct 26, 2008 scura schiuma buons grossolana persistente note tostate luppolo in bocca malto tostato poi un buon amaro buona secchezza WISEGUY572 (1244), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 19, 2008 Somehow not quite all there. When I think of a London Porter I think of Fullers, with a silky mouthfeel, a nearly opaque appearance, and intensity of coffee and burnt malts. Somewhat thin in the mouth as well. This is ok, with some dried fruit notes, but not up to my expectations from a British craft porter. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 12, 2008 Pours brown, tan head.
Aroma of nice chocolat malt.
Taste, grilled, coffee/espresso malts, good notes of caramel and licorice.
Light touch of hops blending quite well with the malts.
The bottle had some age and the carbonation was low, still a very decent porter. Svesse (2597), Hässelby, Sweden Oct 5, 2008 (Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2008) Dark brown colour with huge, pale brown head. Malty, slightly roasted nose with notes of dark fruit, coffee and dark, ripe cherries. Malty, roasted taste with nuts, dark fruit, raisins and prunes leading to dark chocolate and roasted hints of coffee in the finish. Rather complex, but nicely balanced. More fruity and less roasty than most porters. Very nice one though. fidel (884), Livermore, California, USA Oct 4, 2008 Dark brown, creamy, thin, malty, fruity, little coffee, little vanilla, slight nut, lots of CO2. Cool bottle? AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Oct 3, 2008 Pours a deep cola brown with a fizzy finger thick head. The nose is a bit fruity with malt and a hint of coffee. The flavor is similar, with less fruit but more malt. Subtle coffee in the finish. A bit too much carbonation.
