Commercial Description:
Avaailable on Keg and in 750ml bottles.
George Washington was a big fan of imported English Porter. By 1769 he'd lost his taste for British beers. After all, it was keeping the Redcoats fighting. Our Porter is based on a recipe from 1750. We bring you the original aromas and flavours of the beer that made London the world's brewing capital, flavours we know Washington would have loved. Time, care and attention have enabled us to produce a blend of beers bringing you the flavour of the 1750's. Share this beer with friends and enjoy with barbeques, fish or shellfish. The ruby colour & bottle conditioning are proof of its heritage and authenticity.

Bottled. A slightly muddy very dark brown coloured porter which has a slight tan head. The aroma is fairly sweet with caramel notes. There is also a smoky coal character. The taste is a litle oily with slight roasted malt character and a smoky fishy character. A long, reasonably complex finish with a little chocolate late on.

75 cl bottle. Very dark brown with a beige head. Aromas are strong roast coffee with caramel malts beneath. Also has cocoa powder and earthy, peppery hops. Flavours are roast malts with liquorice and dark chocolate bitterness. Some hints of Winter fruit. Some dry woodiness with hints of peaty smokiness. Quite prickly on the palate with a dry peppery finish. I was expecting more of this, its good but a little thin in body.

Dark brown with a lasting tan head. Lots of roast notes in the aroma, caramel, chocolate and coffee dominates, with a hint of smoke and licorice. Rich and full flavour with caramel sweetness and roast dryness

This one reminded me of New Holland The Poet and Magic Hat Ravell a lot. Dark brown pour with ruby edges and a small white head. The aroma had dark malt, chocoff, some fruit, and some oak. The flavor was malty, with a lot of chocoff and some cabernet and brown sugar in the finish. Somewhat light palate and not as complex as the elite porters, but this one is well worth a try. I got mine for 6 bucks, and it was worth that in my opinion.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium brown. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, chocolate, coffee), lightly hoppy (herbs). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation.

750 ml corked & caged bottle from Steve’s (Mineral Point Road) in Madison, WI (Dec 2005). Cellar temperature, Samuel Smith pint glass. Despite a total lack of sound when I removed the cork, there is carbonation evident in the pour, with a gout of foamy, moderately long-lasting tan head atop a murky brown-black body....at first the aroma was really indistinct, a bit soapy and anise-scented, but some light chocolate tones do develop, but overriding it all is unfortunately slippery detergent....thankfully there is improvement on the tongue, chocolaty-roasty character sweetens but remains a bit acidic and robust....the body is on the thin side for a porter I think, and the milkiness while not unpleasant doesn’t have much to work with....a warmed-up watery milkshake with just a touch of boiled coffee grounds added. Overall, it doesn’t add up to much and is a big disappointment, given the expensive fancy bottle and all.

Aroma of chocolate and toasted malt. Maybe some coffee. Hazy dark apricot color (halogen light) and a quickly disappearing beige head that laced a bit. Starts with roasted malt, followed by some chocolate, followed by some coffe, followed by some nice bitterness. Some smokiness comes after awhile, and there is a nice level of bitterness in the finish. Really good. Neither sweet nor dry. Brilliant.

A large dissapointment after enjoying their IPA. The body was dark amber with a light tan head. The aroma was roasted toffee, iced tea and some chocolate. The taste was tart with apples and caramel. There was also some green gooseberries. A strange porter. some lightly sour taste, possibly an infection.
