detroitsteel (208), England Apr 16, 2008 I was bowlled over by this - It has the right notes of coffee and burnt intensity and sweet malty flavours without being cloying or too much too handle. Good mouthfeel, a lovely deep rich colour in the glass. You can buy it from Saino’s, its a dead good winter warmer - top brew.
OStreetBrewery (82), Wellington, New Zealand May 10, 2008 Pours a dark red with a beige head. Aroma features sappy hops, a hint of banana and light grainy chocolate. On the palate there is firm understated roast grain, a hint of chocolate and caramel malt, banana, and minty character that becomes more and more medicinal as the beer warms. The finish is malty and medicinal. Good beer although medicinal character detracts somewhat from the whole. RichardGretton (2495), Leicestershire, England May 10, 2008 Bottle. Blackish beer with a very strong head. The aroma is midlly roasted and the flavour is quite deeply roasted. Overall a nice roasted and bitter’ish beer. renffisch (226), london, England Apr 30, 2008 75cl bottle @ the meantime brewery. Stronger malt nose than the stout. Meaty ant not quite as complex. Makes more than up for it in flavour. Much meatier, heavy body. Darkest amber in colour light lacy white head. Fizzy heavy bready mouthfeel. Grand porter! georgekappus (296), Brookfield, Connecticut, USA Apr 25, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark opaque brown with a full off white head. Aroma was roasted, malty, and sweet molasses. Flavor was roasted, lightly sweet, and burnt raisins. The beer was bitter and a little thinner than expected. yalnikim (599), Wellington, New Zealand Apr 24, 2008 Tasted 18/04/2008. 750ml bottle from Rumble’s, Wellington. BYO with a great meal at Charlie Bill in Thorndon. Pours a dark brown, near black, with garnet highlights and a diminishing airy tan head. Pleasant aroma of fruit and nut chocolate, with a slightly charred background note. Chocolate, toast, Medium weight and carbonation. Very nice beer, well travelled.
