Commercial Description:
Avaailable on Keg and in 750ml bottles.
George Washington was a big fan of imported English Porter. By 1769 he'd lost his taste for British beers. After all, it was keeping the Redcoats fighting. Our Porter is based on a recipe from 1750. We bring you the original aromas and flavours of the beer that made London the world's brewing capital, flavours we know Washington would have loved. Time, care and attention have enabled us to produce a blend of beers bringing you the flavour of the 1750's. Share this beer with friends and enjoy with barbeques, fish or shellfish. The ruby colour & bottle conditioning are proof of its heritage and authenticity.

Pours a very dark ruby with a very nice tan head. Nice lacing too. Some nice roasted toffee and coffee notes in the nose, but there also a bit of a metallic smell in there that I’m not very fond of. The flavor is really nice. Toffee, mild creamy coffee, milk chocolate and some smokey/roasted notes in support. The mouthefeel is a bit thin and over-carbonated, but not unbearable by any means. Very enjoyable beer.

Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in McKinney, TX. Pours a clear Brown/Amber with beige head. Aroma of slight dark roast and light chocolate. Flavor has some dark roast and a little chocolate as well. Where this beer died was mouthfeel, just did not have the body, seemed very light for this beer, ruined the overall expieriance. Overall, I think I paid too much for this porter.

750ml caged and corked bottle from Wilderness Wines in Rangely. Pours a dark brown body with a couple inches of slowly-dissipating rocky light tan head. Smells roasty, chocolatey, earthy, and slightly fruity. Tastes very roasty, with coffee and chocolate notes, nuttiness, with some caramel molasses, and hints of licorice. Flavors are very well-balanced, complex, and somewhat subtle. Medium bodied with a fair bit of carbonation. This a solid example of the style for sure, very tasty, drinkable, and enjoyable. Having said that, it’s unfortunately an occasional treat at the price.
