COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Avaailable on Keg and in 750ml bottles.
George Washington was a big fan of imported English Porter. By 1769 he'd lost his taste for British beers. After all, it was keeping the Redcoats fighting. Our Porter is based on a recipe from 1750. We bring you the original aromas and flavours of the beer that made London the world's brewing capital, flavours we know Washington would have loved. Time, care and attention have enabled us to produce a blend of beers bringing you the flavour of the 1750's. Share this beer with friends and enjoy with barbeques, fish or shellfish. The ruby colour & bottle conditioning are proof of its heritage and authenticity.

"typical porter aroma, which is nice, but a bit on the weak side. I’m a little distracted from the roasted aroma and flavor by a slight sour note, which doesn’t quite fit the style. we tried side by side with another english porter (santas’s butt) and liked this one better, although both were slightly disappointing. i’ll stick with fullers!"

Nice bitterness with a pleasant smoky end M: Light to medium body. Medium carbonation. Very drinkable. A bit molasses. Mild bitter and smoky end O: Very good quality beer. Really easy to drink. Bottle from Waitrose. Champagne-style cork, giant bottle. First taste a bit metallic, unpleasant. Then it mellows out and becomes rather nice. Very soft and warming. The first Meantime bottled beer I've actually enjoyed... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml bottle from Siciliano’s Specialty Market Michigan. Pour deep dark brown with a 2cm tan foam. Aroma is seriously from a classic British Porter, no twist here. Same thing for the taste. Nothing to add, it’s a real Porter. Long finish. Perfect Porter.

Pours deep ruby brown with hints of amber brown around the margins, two fluffy fingers of loose tan head diminishing gradually to a thin cap, spotty lacing. Nose is roast malts, toffee, chocolate, coffee. Taste is sweet toffee malt and chocolate giving way to bitter coffee, faint smoky molasses. Medium body and a creamy mouth feel, with a long bitter finish. Definitely not to be drunk cold - the flavour opens up considerably as it warms to room temperature. A much-better-than-average porter. This one was well past its best-by date of February 2014, but I wouldn’t expect that to be an issue at all for this style, particularly given the moderately high ABV. I detected no adverse signs of age, and if anything would expect some cellaring time to be beneficial. I keep waffling back and forth on my overall opinion of porters and stouts, and this one is definitely one in the “pro” column.

Sm bottle. Definitely an old-school type porter, very light and yeast-driven. Would be good in cask

Aroma: Complex. The expected roast character and dark chocolate meets something like campfire roasted marshmallows, imparting a semi-sweetness and a touch of smoke. Appearance: Solid black pour with a sticky mocha head that faded into a sticky skin. Flavor: Roast is the most obvious thing here, but chocolate is not far off, especially in the finish. Light smoke and wood creep around the edges. Palate: Light body, slick texture, flat carbonation, long finish. Overall: Pretty much loved this; so much nuance and character without so much as a shout. An elegant, old world porter.

Bottle roughly 1.5 years old. Pours black with some foamy head and minimal lacing. Nose is coffee and some metal. Flavours of coffee, some molasses, almost a smoky note there as well. Taste is medium sweet, medium bitter. Medium body with medium carbonation.

Classic British porter. The flavors are balanced; not too strong, almost muted. There is the expected roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Low to medium bitterness, with moderate malty sweetness. Reddish black color, light and partially transparent. Seemed a little weak at first but the flavor opens up as the beer warms towards room temp.

Bottle from backlog notes. Pours a clear dark reddish brown color with a smaller beige head. The aroma and flavor had dark fruit, light roast, chocolate, a liht coffee note, a hint of molasses, medium body, smooth, a touch dry at the finish. A decent English porter.
