"Meantimeís London Stout is very much an old London beer as it would be made today."

Bottle from my local Waitress in Berko, pours a very dark brown with deep orange highlights and a rich tan head. The smell is molasses, roasted malt, dark fruit. The taste is roasted malt, molasses, dark fruit ending dry and roast with a touch of coffee. The body is light/medium with prickly carbonation.

Taste of malt with distinct coffee tones. Pure, deep, full-bodied stout with velvety mouth feeling and long elegant aftertaste.

Keg at Brew Wharf, Borough Market. Black with a thick creamy head. Once it had warmed a little (still donít understand why craft brewers kill their great flavours by serving the beer so cold) it was a lovely smooth stout with rich chocolate and roast malt flavours. The roasting hasnít been overdone so itís not bitter or burnt- itís not sweet either- Goldilocks would no doubt think it was "just right" and the perfect accompaniment for the chocolate pud that the thieving cow was no doubt about to nick from poor baby bear. Very easy to drink, this goes down a treat. A lovely stout... oh, hang about, Iíve just gone to add my rating and Iím astonished to find itís actually a schwarzbier. Would never have guessed, to think that a schwarz is a decent stout is a pretty good compliment for a schwarz I reckon (even if I was misled by the name!). Easily my highest rated schwarz to date.

Funny how it is an old Londonian stout and in the "meantime" a lager.... Anyway the beer isnít bad. It had indeed a rich malty character of a typical stout with a bit dark fruit aroma to it. It mostly rich chocolate. Easy to drink with dairy and chocolate flavor. Aftertaste still dairy and a bit like milk chocolate in the background. Very mild taste overall.
