3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Black beer large head. Aroma of coffee. Taste is coffee, roasted malts and a little chocolate. A lot of carbonation. I had this chilled for two days and it helped make the drink refreshing.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Waitrose, consumed at home. Dark brown with a creamy tan head. Coffee and liquorice on the nose, with hints of saltwater taffy and woodsmoke. Sweet creamy taste with hints of stone fruit, condensed milk and stewed vegetable in the finish. Fairly weak body. Above average all in all.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Negra opaca. Espuma crema abundante pero que en seguida se disipa. Aroma a café. Cuerpo ligero, pero cremosa. Impecable sabor que mezcla muy bien un tono frutal con un final muy seco y amargo, de café. Muy sabrosa. Muy bebible.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Waitrose. Pours deep brown with a cream head. A little coffee in the aroma. The taste is roast notes and spice. The spiciness dominates the roast flavours making this a fairly poor stout.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Looks the part with the typical black and white appearance of a stout but the aroma is rather weak and you really have to try to get any roastiness into your nostrils. Similarly, the mouthfeel is somewhat thin but the finish typically bitter. Probably works best if you drink it with your eyes shut and pretend it’s a bitter. Mediocre at best. Followed it down with a bottle of Hook Norton’s excellent Double Stout and there really was no contest.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle; pours dark brown with a beige head; aroma of coffee with hints of chocolate and vanilla; taste is a little lighter than what I expected with coffee, molasses, and vanilla with a hint of caramel; has dry light bitter, coffee finish; good but not great stout

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From 500ml bottle. Short tan head over dark beer. Aroma is roasted malt. Palate is fizzy, thick and slightly astringent. Flavour is grassy, dark malt, dregs of black coffee, distant licorice in the dry slightly bitter finish. Bottle label says it’s a Malt only recipe but also displays the Yeast, Malt, Water, Hops logo which is a bit misleading.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Quite a disappointment. Schwarzbier for me should be nearly around stout, but you cant call 4.5 ABV "stout". Mostly water with some evident roasted malt presence. Thats about it
Light cocoa background, moderate to light sweetness, light bitterness. Watery

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Waitrose. (£2.09) Pours creamy. Overall impression is it's a quite delicate stout, with some flavour present, but nothing too special. Cairngorm's Black Gold (slightly weaker at 4.4% ABV) has much more complexity. Average.
