500ml bottle from Bierzwerg. Pours pitch black with fine, creamy off-white head. Smells malty roasty, sweetish, with some coffee. Starts with lots of burnt malts and roasted coffee, hoppy bitter in the background. Middle part has some roasted malts, slight sweetish in background. Goes into a coffe-roasted finish with sweet caramel and burnt malts...

Pours black to deep deep amber red. Tan head that persists. Caramel notes and a malty flavor. Less creamy than I was expecting but tastes great none the less. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle. pours black (or ruby red if you put a light behind it) with a tan head that stays until the last mouthful. aroma is not too strong really. hint of coffee and maybe some bread. tastes great though. full mouth feel and extremely smooth. coffee taste and very bitter. caramel after taste and slightly sweet.

Acceptable but not outstanding beer. It is rather thin, though a little creamy, in the mouth, without the syrupyness or chewiness I expected. Sweet malt on the nose with maybe a touch of orange. Not highly carbonated, the after-taste is somewhat dry in the mouth and tastes like when you eat roast coffee beans as a snack. I don’t think i’d bother with this again.

UPDATED: APR 12, 2013 I use to work in London, England at a pub that had Meantime Stout on tap. I use to get free pints all the time. It did not have much of a head, not the best stout I ever had but enjoyable enough and easy for session beers.

’Very much an old London beer as it would be made today.’ Of all the nonsense I’ve read from brewers I think this takes the biscuit. Total tosh. Love that it’s classed as a schwarzbier, so an old London beer made today is a German style. I could get all political on your ass and start talking about how the Germans are taking over everything that is quintissentailly British, like sterling, sausages, skoda and stout. But I won’t. That would be my worst trompe d’oeil to date.

black, clear, brown foam, smell of Licorice. Disapointing taste. Aqueous and light. Medium bitterness. A shame

It was suggested today that Kurt Cobain should not be discussed with 10 year olds because he committed suicide and this is difficult to explore with young children. Mark Antony, Kevin Carter, Cleopatra, Robert Fitzroy, Vincent Van Gogh, Hermann Goring, Hannibal, Ernest Hemingway, Adolf Hitler, Abbie Hoffman, Sylvia Plath, Mark Rothko, Seneca the Younger, Alan Turing, Virginia Woolf. That’s quite a list of people off the agenda then. Who knew that sunflowers were so controversial? Seriously, some people need a reality check...

Small head, off white. Deep ruby colour. Chocolate, vanilla and coffee blends w malt on the nose. Nicely complex, not overpowering. Good mouthfeel. Gentle bitter finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
