Bottle from a trade.
[Bottle 822 of 2050]
Clear chestnut with a small, off-white film head. Aroma has light cellar, caramel, light citrus and port. Medium carbonation, fairly light and rather dry mouthfeel. Flavour has toasted malts, caramel, light cocoa, mild oxidation, plums. Dry and malty bitter finish. Well-balanced.

Bottle from Wine and cheese place: Great malt, dried fruits and caramel. Huge tan head. This beer had a hint of smoke to it. Thick mouth feel with low carbonation. This was a great scotch ale
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jkwood04 (2298) - Connecticut, USA - MAR 9, 2013
Big bottle in a thistle. Pours deep brown with a lacy, tan head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, chocolate and a little roasted malts plus a little floral hops. Flavor the same, with the malts all blending well. Average to smooth texture. A pretty good beer.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 superspak (1484) - Michigan, USA - FEB 21, 2013
750 ml bottle into snifter, best before 12/10/2012. Pours crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a nice 1 finger dense cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lasts. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big caramel, raisin, fig, apple, molasses, toast, leather, brown bread, tobacco, pepper, earth, light peat smoke, and herbal spiciness. Fantastic aromas with great complexity, strength, and balance of malt and fruity notes. Taste of caramel, raisin, fig, apple, toast, brown sugar, leather, brown bread, tobacco, pepper, earth, light peat smoke, floral, and herbal spiciness. Lingering notes of caramel, light fruits, brown sugar, toast, leather, tobacco, brown bread, earth, light peat smoke, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of malt and fruity flavors; with zero cloying sweetness present after the finish. Medium carbonaton and body; with a slick and lightly syrupy mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent scotch ale! Great complexity and balance of malt and fruity notes; and very smooth to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Indra (2476) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - JAN 31, 2013
750ml bottle, cellar aged for about 1.5 years. Sweet, malty aroma, some dark brown sugar, faint smoke, peat, darkly toasted malt, seaweed/brine and burnt caramel. Dark amber in color, tea-like in appearance, with a very fine head. Dark brown sugar sweetness permeates the flavor profile, more peat/smoky aspects here, as well as some earthy, herbal tones and sweet, warming alcohol towards the finish. Rich and full on the palate, low in effervescence, body is very full. Nice!

The aroma is sweet and malty with caramel, paper, butter scotch and yeast. The appearance is amber with a small head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is average. Overall not that great it’s ruined by the paper quality. I am not a fan.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bbbeer (412) - Massachusetts, USA - NOV 3, 2012
On tap. Deep slightly cloudy orange with medium small off-white head. Aroma malt, bread, brown sugar. Medium full body, hint of warming alcohol and light carbonation. Flavor is mostly malty and sweet but also with some raisins, molasses, a little hoppy bitter balance although really not that prominent so in the end slightly sticky. Still flavorful and enjoyable.
