2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20 ClubGonzo (2687) - Bergen, NORWAY - JUL 6, 2011
Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. First rating from Meantime coming up; this is a brewery that seems to be "craft-oriented" but is listed as "commercial brewery" here on RB so I’m kinda curious to make my own opinion about the level of craft represented. :-) Pours a deep, near-brown orange body with a small white head. Aroma is extremely faint, with only a few malty tones barely making it into my nostrils. Taste is slightly better; roasted malts, hints of caramel and toffee. Still weak. All in all a pleasant but mediocre vienna-style lager. Oh well, for this one my expectations were rather low.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 pivnizub (7977) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - JUL 4, 2011
Bottle: Almost clear, small stable off-white head, copper to amber coloured; dry dark-malty to roasty nose, suppressed hops detectable; light to moderate dry bitter flavour, light bodied; hints of bitter-chocolate in the relatively short bitter and dark-malty finish, followed by a hoppy tail. Good......
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 Beersiveknown (1615) - NORTHERN IRELAND - MAY 14, 2011
Easy drinking deep amber beer the colour of an aged whisky. Gentle carbonation with no head whatsoever. Sweet smelling with a slight hint of soap, this does not follow through into the flavour. Contrary to the description above, this beer does contain cascade hops, though there is very little bitterness, just a slight pepperiness in the finish. Predominant flavours are a light caramel with some bready undertones. Very light and understated complemented well by a light cheese such as gouda.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MoritzF (7756) - Bochum, GERMANY - APR 11, 2011
(bottle, 33cl) Clear, amber colour with a beige medium-sized foamy head. Moderately sweet and toasted cara-malty aroma with subtle fruity notes and herbal hops. Mildly bitter and sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a crisp mouthfeel. Slightly ashy caramel-malty taste with a tinge of dark fruits and herbal accents; dry-ish moderately bitter and slightly hoppy finish with nutty notes in the aftertaste. 09.IV.11
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 rand (1000) - SWITZERLAND - MAR 25, 2011
Bottle 33 cl from Bier-Bienne (CH). Very nice copper reddish, small and fleeting collar white-cream, average crackling. Aromas of malt-toffy, stone fruits and kernels. The taste is malty caramel and toasted, rather round, hints of bitterness, nuts and tart tips.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 EdKing (1299) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 28, 2011
Complex Vienna style lager. Have to be honest that this style is not one I’ve generally been keen on. Colour is an inviting copper light brown. Aroma is toasty malt. Taste is sweet malt and grassy hops and finish has nuttiness to it. A flavoursome lager but probably not to everyone’s taste.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 GregClow (2735) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 21, 2011
Bottle. Found this in the back of the fridge tonight, and it had been there for a while. I can’t remember exactly when I got it, but the best before date was in Dec/10, so probably early last year. Thankfully, it was still in good shape. Nice nutty-copper colour with a small off-white head. Mild aroma of light caramel, a bit of toasted bread, and a herbal hint. Medium bodied. Flavour starts sweet and malty, with caramel/toffee and toasted nuts, a bit of bread crust as well, leading to a dry and moderately hopped finish. I suspect that the hops might’ve been a bit brighter when it was fresh, but it still held together nicely. Just a simple, straightforward and enjoyable beer.
