Lovely looking brown bottle,330ml, best before 23rd Jan 2010, drank 6th Nov 2009. Poured into a Corsendonk badged, stemmed tulip glass. A small amount of sediment sat within the glass, but the beer was almost crystal clear, golden and lively. A white head left before it could settle, leaving a wisp and collar. The aroma was of yeast and peaches, not the normal banana and vanilla smells associated with this style. Nothing wrong with that, except the label claimed banana, cloves and toffee smells. Wheat flavoured in the taste, fairly dry for the style, yeasty too. Not overly impressed I’m afraid, the 5% ABV is evident, but it doesn’t do anything to add any substance to the beer.

pours a slightly cloudy yellow with a white head that dissipates quickly with no lacing to speak of. Aroma is sweat fruity which is reflected in the taste, fairly pleasant.

Bottle. Peach and a hint of bubblegum on nose, dry, tartish and a bit of biscuit. Dry hops come through in the finish.

I really love the design of the Meantime bottles, but the appearance of the actual beer trapped inside of this bottle is not that impressive: hazy, light amber to orange body with a white head, very poor head retention and virtually no lacing. Unusually huge amounts of caramel in the aroma initially, but it soon gives way to lots of yeast, also spices and fruits. I don’t think I manage to detect any banana in this one, but there are some faint citric notes."Faint" is a good description of the aroma in general. The flavours are almost as faint as the aroma, but still quite refreshing. Yeast and spices are the dominating contributors. Moderate sweet, light acidic and light bitter taste. Watery and thin with a gentle chalky finish. A weak wheat.

Bottle meantime wheat. A slightly disappointing wheat beer. Flavour has all the standard notes but is lacking punch.

330 ml bottle, as Meantime Wheat, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo. ABV is 5.0%. Cloudy golden colour, huge and lasting white head. Spicy aroma, notes of cloves and dust, hints of banana. Citrussy / lemony flavour, bordering on "sour", just a hint of cloves. No detectable hops. Sorry, but the Germans do this better.

Tap. Hazy orange with a nice white head. The scent is a bit medicinal, sweet, some banana and spun sugar. The taste is lemony, too tart for my liking in a hefe. The finish is smooth. Medium body, slightly watery. Carbonation’s a little undersold. Overall, not a great wheat beer. Meantime continues to disappoint in my book.
